Lagniappe. Get to know this class of newcomers for the 2024-25 LSU Women's Basketball season as they showcase what's in their locker.

🔼  Still Making History. The No. 2 LSU gymnastics team started the 2025 season with a bang! The defending national champions beat Iowa State 197.300-194.100 in front of 12,324 fans, the most in attendance for a home opener in LSU history. Aleah Finnegan posted the highest all-around score by an LSU gymnast on opening night with a 39.725. She hadn’t competed in the all-around since March 15, 2024. She also took home all four event titles and the all-around. Kailin Chio posted a 39.575, the highest all-around debut score by an LSU freshman. The Tigers will return on January 11 at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad in Oklahoma City.

🔼 Takin’ Care Of Business. The sixth-ranked women’s basketball team defeated Auburn 73-63 on Sunday! Aneesah Morrow recorded her 15th double-double of the year with 21 points and 14 rebounds. She’s one double-double shy of 90, which would tie her for the third-most in NCAA DI history. Kailyn Gilbert scored 17 points off the bench, going a perfect 6-6 in the first half. The Tigers will play at No. 15 Tennessee on Thursday at 5:30 p.m

🔼 Remembering A Legend. LSU is saddened to announce the passing of LSU women’s tennis pioneer Kay McDaniel. She was a standout player, the program’s first All-American, and sits in the LSU record book for most wins in a season and career. She left her mark on the international stage with a reputation for excellence on and off the court. Beyond her athletic achievements, McDaniel was a professor, author, and motivational speaker.

🔼 Slight Setback. The men’s basketball team didn’t start SEC play as they hoped, falling 80-72 to Vanderbilt. The Tigers tried to rally in the second half, going on an 11-2 run to take the lead, but Vanderbilt came alive. Cam Carter led the Tigers with 22 points, his seventh 20-point game this season. This was LSU’s first home loss this season, moving to 11-3 overall. They’ll hit the road for four of their next five games.

The Kelly Family Million Dollar Challenge is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on LSU football student-athletes. For every dollar you contribute to Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) through the Bayou Traditions Football Fund through February 5, your gift’s impact will be tripled. The Kelly Family will match all contributions, up to $1 million, and an anonymous support will match up to $1 million in support of NIL opportunities.

This is your chance to make a difference in the lives of our football student-athletes and help continue LSU football’s legacy of excellence. Take part in the challenge and maximize your impact. Every $1 gift will bring $3 in support to football NIL opportunities and the Tiger Athletic Foundation.
