LSU Football returns to Death Valley for a rare 11 a.m. kickoff against Mississippi State, their first meeting since 2023. The Tigers – coming off a road setback – look to start fast and deliver a complete effort in all phases on Homecoming.

🔼 A Legend Honored. Dale Brown has been named the 2027 recipient of the John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching Award, joining a list that includes Dean Smith, Pat Summitt, and Geno Auriemma. Brown remains the winningest coach in LSU men’s basketball history after 25 seasons, 448 victories, two Final Fours, and 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, and Shaquille O’Neal delivered a video tribute at Tuesday’s announcement reflecting on what his former coach meant to him. Brown, who turns 91 on Oct. 31, will receive the trophy at the Wooden Award ceremony in Los Angeles in April 2027.

🔼 Two on the First Team. Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley both landed on the preseason All-SEC First Team, with Williams a unanimous pick by the league’s coaches, who also slotted LSU third in the conference behind South Carolina and Texas. Williams led the Tigers in three-pointers, defensive rebounds, assists, and minutes last season on her way to AP All-America honorable mention, while Fulwiley paced LSU in scoring with 511 points and claimed SEC Sixth Woman of the Year for the second straight year.

🔼 First of the Fall. Dan Hayes has been named SEC Golfer of the Week, the first Tiger to claim the honor this fall and the first non-freshman award of his career after collecting three freshman of the week nods last season. The Englishman earned it by winning the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational by a single stroke at five-under 211, beating two top-five ranked golfers in the field along the way. His second-round 66 was the best round turned in by anyone at the event, and he led the tournament with 13 birdies.

🔼 Free Fall Baseball. LSU baseball runs intra-squad scrimmages this week at Alex Box Stadium, with first pitch at 6 p.m. Thursday, 6 p.m. Friday, and 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free, gates open 15 minutes before each start at the Gate 2 home plate entrance, and Friday’s session is limited to Coaches Committee members and players’ families.
