Excitement and Expectation Around Basketball Tigers

Get ready y'all: November is coming.

That means – drumroll, please – the start of basketball season at the PMAC, where Kim Mulkey and Co. and Matt McMahon’s squad have already played exhibition games.

With that, I figured I’d sit down and write about what to expect from both teams, who enter the 2025 season with excitement and, of course, expectations. It wouldn’t be LSU without that. Let’s get into it…

🔼 Triple-Digit Tigers. The men’s basketball team had a good showing in their exhibition against Loyola (N.O.), winning 110-48. All 12 players that the Tigers played scored, with six scoring double-digits. Cam Carter scored 21 points with five three-pointers in 21 minutes. Jordan Sears scored 16 with four three balls. The Tigers will start the regular season next week.

🔼 One Of The Best. As we get ready for the regular season, women’s basketball watch lists continue to come out, and Tigers continue to land on them. Flau’Jae Johnson was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award preseason watch list! The award goes to the nation’s top shooting guard. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January.

🔼 Survive & Advance. The women’s golf team advanced to the finals of the East Lake Cup after a hard-fought day. It took all five matches and a couple of extra holes to get there, but the Tigers defeated Oregon 3-2 — thanks to wins from Aine Donegan, Rocio Tejedo, and Josefin Widal. They’ll play USC today.

🔼  Back For More. The women’s basketball team returns to the PMAC for another exhibition game! They’ll host LSU-Alexandria tonight at 7 p.m. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. The game will stream on SEC Network+.
