Bayou Brew 12/15: Shut Them Down

Plus: LSU hoops continues winning.

Good morning, Tigers!

What else is mixed into today’s Bayou Brew?

🏀 Bounce back
🏈 Shut them down
🐯 And so much more!

🔼 Bounce Back. LSU men’s hoops bounced back with an 89-77 win over SMU at the Compete 4 Cause Classic on Saturday night. The 9-1 Tigers saw four players (Pablo Tamba, Max Mackinnon, Marquel Sutton, and Dedan Thomas Jr.) combine for 75 points, 26 rebounds, 16 assists, and six steals as LSU posted its first Quad 1 win of the season. The squad is back at it on Friday night against Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m.

🔼 Heading Home. Head coach Kim Mulkey and her LSU Tigers defeated Louisiana Tech, Mulkey’s alma mater, 87-61, on Saturday in New Orleans. The victory marked LSU women’s hoops 11th straight win as the team stayed perfect on the season. The Tigers are back in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Dec. 16 for the first time since late November to host Morgan State at 11 a.m. CT.

🔼 Shut Them Down. The recognition of the stellar play of LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane continues. Delane earned Walter Camp All-America first-team honors. The 136th edition of the Walter Camp All-American team honors 25 players from FBS and is the oldest All-America team in existence.

🔼 The Fighting Tiger. ESPN and SEC Network will debut “The Fighting Tiger,” a new SEC Storied film that documents the life, impact, and legacy of D-D Breaux, the former LSU gymnastics head coach. The movie debuts on Feb. 13 at 9:30 p.m. on SEC Network, though LSU Athletics will host an early premiere event on Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The early screening is free and open to the public. More information here.
