Sports Information: A New Head Football Coach, Undefeated Basketball Teams & More

Never a dull moment at LSU. The guys are back to talk the hire of a new head football coach, two undefeated basketball teams on campus, the announcement of ⁠Death Valley Live⁠ and much more.

🔼 Let’s Bowl. LSU football will face off against Houston in the 2025 Texas Bowl. Coach Frank Wilson will lead the Tigers into the game against the 21st-ranked 9-3 Cougars. It’ll mark the first time these two teams have met on the gridiron since 2000 when LSU won 28-13 in Tiger Stadium. The game is set for Saturday, Dec. 27, at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN.

🔼 Staying Perfect. LSU women’s hoops remained undefeated with a dominating 126-62 win over New Orleans on the road on Sunday afternoon. Kate Koval set a new career high with 22 points in the win, while MiLaysia Fulwiley scored 18 and ZaKiyah Johnson added 17. Amiya Joyner finished in double figures with 14, and Jada Richard and Grace Knox added 12 apiece. Knox contributed 12 boards and Joyner added 10 in the win as each ended the game with a double-double.

🔼 The Powerhouse. LSU outfielders Derek Curiel and Jake Brown landed on the MLB Pipeline Top Prospects list for the 2026 draft. Curiel checked in at No. 6, while Brown came in at No. 55. The sophomore Curiel looks to build on his D1Baseball.com 2025 National Freshman of the Year award, while Brown batted a team-high .385 during the College World Series.

🔼 Ticket Time. LSU football will keep season ticket costs unchanged heading into the 2026 season. LSU’s 2026 schedule will be unveiled on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

LSU’s Jere Hribar won three medals at the European Aquatics Swimming Championships in Poland this week. Hribar, who represented his native Croatia, earned silver in the 100m-free, bronze on the Croatian 4×50m-free relay team, and gold in the 50m-free.
