🔼 Sharp Shooter. LSU senior Flau'jae Johnson earned a spot on the 2026 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Top 10 list, recognizing the nation's top shooting guards. The Georgia native is averaging 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Johnson leads LSU in scoring while shooting 48.5% from the field, 43.4% from three-point range, and 75.5% from the free-throw line. Fan voting opens Friday, Feb. 6, at hoophallawards.com and counts as one committee vote. The list will be narrowed to five finalists in mid-March.

🔼 No. 1. Derek Curiel is a Baseball America 2026 First-Team Preseason All-American! The publication writes, “Curiel’s reputation as an advanced pure hitter dates back to his freshman season in high school.” Baseball America also lists Curiel as the No. 1 Best Pure Hitter across all of college baseball this season.

🔼 On Base. LSU’s Brayden Simpson checks in at No. 5 on the D1 Baseball list of Top 50 Second Basemen. The senior transferred to LSU after playing three season at High Point, where he earned 2025 NCBWA Third-Team All-American and First-Team All-Big South Conference honors. Simpson is a career .323 batter with 46 doubles, two triples, 37 homers, 136 RBI, 143 runs, and 29 stolen bases.

🔼 Next Up. LSU women's tennis earned the No. 3 seed at the ITA National Indoor Team Championships and will face No. 6 Tennessee on Friday, Feb. 6, in the opening round. The Tigers landed in the Northwestern bracket alongside No. 4 Auburn, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 9 NC State, and potentially No. 1 Georgia or No. 15 Virginia in the second round. LSU punched its ticket with dominant wins over Marshall (4-0) and No. 17 UCLA (4-1) at ITA Kickoff Weekend, marking consecutive Indoor Championships appearances for the first time in program history.

🔼 Rank ‘Em. LSU men's track & field broke into the national rankings for the first time this indoor season, coming in at No. 25 in the latest USTFCCCA poll. The Tigers jumped nine spots from No. 34 after posting five projected national qualifiers. Jaiden Reid leads the way, ranking No. 4 nationally in the 200m (20.62) and No. 11 in the 60m (6.59). Jordan Turner sits at No. 5 in the long jump (26-1.5), while Justine Jimoh (No. 12, high jump) and Athaleyha Hinckson (No. 13, 60m) round out the qualifying group. LSU women's track improved to No. 69, up from No. 92.
