Good morning, Tigers.

🏊 Dove In
🏀 Hoops for Burundi
🐯 And so much more!

🔼 Tourney Win. LSU opened the SEC Tournament with a 6-2 win over Oklahoma as a trio of Tiger pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts while allowing just two runs on six hits. Gavin Guidry earned the win with six strikeouts over 3.1 innings, and Deven Sheerin locked down his fifth save with 3.1 scoreless frames. Derek Curiel drove in two runs with a single and a double, while Steven Milam crushed a two-run homer in the eighth, his fourth in LSU's last four games. The win extends LSU's streak of winning its SEC Tournament opener to five straight years. LSU advances to face No. 6 seed Auburn tonight at approximately 8 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

🔼 In The Hunt. No. 8 LSU men's golf sits fourth after two rounds at the NCAA Marana Regional, carding a 9-under 279 yesterday. Jay Mendell and Dan Hayes both shot 4-under 68 for the second straight day, sitting T7 and T9 respectively at 7-under and 6-under for the week. Noah McWilliams matched his opening round with a 3-under 69, including an eagle on hole 11, and sits T9 at 6-under while ranking T3 in the field in birdies with 12. The top five teams advance to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad.

🔼 Dove In. LSU swimmer Grace Palmer hauled in three medals at the 2026 Open Belgian Swimming Championships in Antwerp. The Liège native took silver in the 200-breaststroke, finishing behind only 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Tes Schouten, and added individual bronze in the 100-breaststroke with a personal-best 1:10.10. She also anchored a bronze-medal mixed 400-freestyle relay. A rising junior, Palmer holds LSU's school record in the 200-breaststroke and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the event last season.

🔼 In The Rankings. LSU track and field heads into the postseason with both squads ranked in the national top 10, with the women holding steady at No. 5 and the men coming in at No. 8 in the latest USTFCCCA outdoor ratings. The Tigers boast eight individuals and four relays ranked in the top 10 nationally, highlighted by the women's 4x400-meter relay sitting at No. 1 in the country with a 2:58.47 and Ella Onojuvwevwo ranking No. 3 in the 400 meters at 49.59.

🔼 On Your Mark. LSU men's track and field signed sprinter Kebba Makalo, a blazing addition out of Hutchinson Community College. The Gambian native arrives with 10 All-American honors across two JUCO seasons and just posted times of 10.05 in the 100 meters and 19.91w in the 200 meters at the NJCAA Outdoor Championships. His legal 100-meter best ranks No. 2 in Gambian history, and he holds the Gambian national indoor record in the 200 meters at 21.05 seconds.

🔼 Tiger Transfer. LSU gymnastics landed its third and final transfer addition for 2027, signing Minnesota standout Jordyn Lyden. Lyden earned NCAA First Team All-America honors on floor in 2026 and won the Big Ten bars title with a 9.950, helping lead the Gophers to the NCAA Championship Final for the first time in program history. Lyden posted career-best 9.950 scores on bars, beam, and floor this past season and has competed in every meet across her three-year career. She brings veteran experience on three events to a Tigers squad coming off a national runner-up finish.

🔼 Hoops For Burundi. Former LSU and NBA star Tyrus Thomas and LSU sports psychologist Dr. LaKeitha Poole are heading to Burundi for a 10-day mission to help build the country's basketball infrastructure. Thomas, the fourth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft after leading LSU to the SEC title and Final Four, played eight NBA seasons and is now a certified leadership coach. Dr. Poole, an assistant athletic director with over a decade at LSU and experience with the Golden State Warriors, brings mental performance expertise. The mission, running May 21–31, is a collaboration with the Federation de Basketball du Burundi aimed at professionalizing the sport and developing homegrown talent.

🔼 Welcome to Baton Rouge. LSU men's basketball added Marcus Brock as head strength and conditioning coach. Brock spent the past three seasons in the same role at Missouri State and previously worked at Texas, Baylor, and Florida Atlantic. A San Antonio native and former Incarnate Word basketball player, Brock holds a kinesiology degree and specializes in individualized programming combining strength training and movement patterns.
