Bayou Brew 5/5: Three Strikes, You're Out
Plus: Welcome back to Baton Rouge.
Good morning, Tigers.

LSU senior right-hander Zac Cowan earned SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week after tossing 10.0 shutout innings across two victories last week. Cowan struck out 14 batters while allowing just four hits and two walks, first earning a relief win over Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday before blanking South Carolina through six innings as a starter on Sunday.

💎 Diamond Report
🏀 Welcome Back to Baton Rouge
🐯 And so much more!
🔼 Player of the Week. LSU softball senior Jalia Lassiter was named SEC Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to a 4-0 week with a .600 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Lassiter racked up nine hits across wins over McNeese and a three-game sweep of Auburn, including four extra-base hits and a highlight-reel home run robbery in the series opener. She posted a career-best four hits in the historic 25-0 rout and became just the seventh Tiger to record multiple seasons with 60 hits and 50 runs. Lassiter leads LSU with a .361 average, 13 doubles, and a career-high eight homers heading into the SEC Tournament.

🔼 Diamond Report. LSU baseball ripped off four straight wins, sweeping South Carolina for the first time since 2017 and tacking on a midweek win over Southeastern Louisiana to improve to 28-21. The pitching staff was sensational against the Gamecocks, posting a 0.67 ERA across 27 innings while holding South Carolina to a .160 batting average.
Sophomore catcher Cade Arrambide led the offense at .538 for the series with a homer and four RBI, while Omar Serna Jr. stretched his hitting streak to 11 games and Steven Milam pushed his reached-base streak to 26 games with a .989 fielding percentage. Freshman Marcos Paz earned his first career LSU win in Saturday's nightcap with five innings of one-hit ball. The Tigers host Tulane tonight before a critical road series at Georgia.

🔼 Welcome Back to Baton Rouge. Vernon Hamilton is back in Baton Rouge as an assistant coach on Will Wade's LSU basketball staff, reuniting with the head coach for a third stint together. Hamilton has been on Wade's staff for the last three NCAA Tournament appearances, including NC State's First Four trip in 2026 and back-to-back Southland titles at McNeese, where the Cowboys won a school-record 58 games over two seasons. A former four-year starter at Clemson who holds the program's all-time steals average record with 271, Hamilton previously worked at LSU from 2020-22 and helped develop NBA players Trendon Watford, Tari Eason, and Cam Thomas.

LSU basketball also welcomed back Greg Goldin as Chief of Staff and Director of Performance for men's basketball, reuniting with Will Wade for the fifth time across their coaching careers. Goldin most recently held the same dual role at NC State and brings over a decade of Division I basketball experience in strength, conditioning, and program operations. He previously spent four seasons at LSU from 2017-21 as the team's strength and conditioning coach before a two-year stint as a human performance manager with U.S. Navy Special Operations, where he oversaw readiness and resilience programs. Goldin will serve as the primary liaison between the basketball program and athletics administration while overseeing all high-performance functions, including sports medicine, nutrition, and mental performance.
