Bayou Brew 6/10: Outdoor Championships Begin Today

Plus: Arni Sveinsson is set to make history at the US Open.

Good morning, Tigers.

LSU sends 22 total entries to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which begin today in Eugene. Shawnti Jackson leads the women with three events (100m, 200m, 4x100), joined by fellow 100-meter qualifiers Tima Godbless and Athaleyha Hinckson. Freshman Skyler Franklin (400m), Princesse Hyman (discus), Alexis Guillory (javelin), Edna Chepkemoi (5,000m), Abigael Chemnagei (10,000m), and both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays round out the women's contingent.

On the men's side, Jaiden Reid qualified in three events (100m, 200m, 4x100), a 400-meter trio of Grant Buckmiller, Malachi Austin, and Amal Glasgow all advanced, and Matthew Sophia punched his ticket in the 110-meter hurdles for the fourth straight year. Chad Hendricks (discus), Jack Larriviere (javelin), Jordan Turner (long jump), and both relay squads complete the men's entries.
