Good morning, Tigers. Former LSU pitcher Lloyd Peever has been elected to the College Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the fifth Tiger to earn the distinction. Peever went a perfect 14-0 with a 1.98 ERA in 1992, earning National Player of the Year honors while opening the season with 39 consecutive innings without a walk.

He compiled a 39-2 combined record across his careers at Seminole State and LSU before being drafted in the fourth round by the Colorado Rockies.

🔼 Gold Glove. LSU sophomore Derek Curiel was named to the 2026 ABCA Gold Glove team, becoming the sixth Tiger to earn the honor. The center fielder posted a .985 fielding percentage while also earning Third-Team All-America, Second-Team All-SEC, and SEC All-Defensive Team recognition. Curiel hit a team-best .353 and has started all 126 games of his LSU career, carrying a .349 career batting average since being named National Freshman of the Year in 2025.

🔼 Running Wild. LSU's Jaiden Reid was named USTFCCCA South Central Region Men's Outdoor Runner of the Year, the fourth time in six years the honor has gone to a Tiger. Reid set the collegiate 200-meter record at 19.63 to become the 2026 world leader, took silver in the 100 with a wind-aided 9.82, and anchored the 4x100 relay to silver. Sprint coach Bennie Brazell earned South Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year after his group accounted for 36 of LSU's 42 points at nationals, collecting 13 All-American honors.

🔼 U.S. Open. Arni Sveinsson and Sam Burns completed the first round of play at the U.S. Open! Burns finished the round one over par tied at 29th.

🔼 Welcome to Baton Rouge. LSU men's track and field signed Sri Lankan high jumper Lesandu Gammanage, who owns a personal best of 2.22 meters (7-3.25) and was the 2024 Sri Lankan and South Asian U20 champion. Gammanage also qualified for the World U20 Championships in 2024 and will join senior Justine Jimoh in the Tigers' high jump room.
