Bayou Brew 6/25: Raising The Bar
Plus: A Louisiana legend is enshrined.
Good morning, Tigers. LSU gymnastics sophomore Kailin Chio has been named the 2026 James J. Corbett Award winner, presented annually by the Allstate Sugar Bowl to the top female amateur athlete in Louisiana. Chio becomes the fifth Tiger gymnast to earn the honor after one of the most dominant seasons in program history where she recorded 13 perfect 10.000 scores to set a new LSU single-season record, including the first-ever perfect score by an LSU gymnast on vault at the NCAA Championships.

She was named SEC Gymnast of the Year, spent four consecutive weeks ranked No. 1 in the all-around nationally, and helped lead the Tigers to an NCAA National Runner-Up finish. Her 44 event titles ranked third in LSU history, while her 14 vault titles and 11 beam titles each set or matched program single-season records.

🏀 A Louisiana Legend
⛳ Raising The Bar
🐯 And so much more!

🔼 A Louisiana Legend. John Brady's road to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is one of the most unlikely in college basketball as a chain of chance connections led a McComb, Mississippi kid all the way to LSU's first Final Four since 1986. Brady, part of the 12-member Class of 2026 being enshrined Saturday, guided the Tigers to a 27-9 record and SEC title in 2005-06 after inheriting a program coming off four straight losing seasons and navigating NCAA sanctions that cost the team six scholarships.
🔼 Exclusive With Coach Wade. The Voice of the Tigers sat down with an exclusive interview with Coach Will Wade as he returned to LSU. Catch the interview streaming now only on LSU+.
🔼 Standing Out. Whit Wheeks joins Tryann Mathieu’s In The Bayou to talk about LSU football’s summer practice. Who’s standing out the most so far? Boise State transfer Ty Benefield — here’s why.
🔼 Raising The Bar. LSU men’s golf set a new standard after 2026 with five new single-season program records across team stroke average, team scoring average, team stroke average to par, birdies, and top-three team finishes!
