⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 4️⃣4️⃣ DAYS

Wearing #4️⃣4️⃣ this fall for the Tigers will be one of the most exciting new faces in Baton Rouge, edge rusher Jack Pyburn, who arrives at LSU after a breakout junior year at Florida.

In three seasons at Florida, Pyburn appeared in 29 games, busting out last fall to rack up 60 tackles, including four TFLs and a sack.

🔼 Eyes On The Prize. As you’re reading this, former LSU golf star Sam Burns is in the midst of his fifth career start in the Open Championship as play begins at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

Burns has made the cut three times in his four Open starts – 2021, 2022 and 2024, when he had his best finish in the event (T31).

This will be the 22nd start for the 28-year-old Shreveport native in one of the four major championships. He is one of 22 golfers entering the weekend who made the cut in all three of the 2025 majors – The Masters, PGA and U.S. Open.

The former Tiger is coming off a seventh-place finish in the U.S. Open.

Friday, Burns will play in one of the final 10 groups in the afternoon in Ireland, which means an 8:48 a.m. CT tee time in Baton Rouge.

🔼 Among The Elite. Entering his sixth NFL season, former LSU star Patrick Queen has high expectations yet again.

This week, Queen earned a spot in the NFL Top 100 at #75 entering the 2025 season.

In his five NFL seasons, Queen has played in 84 games, racking up 583 tackles, 14.5 sacks and 50 TFLs.

🔼 Going Global. Burns isn’t the only member of the LSU fam showing out on a global stage this weekend.

Rising junior Alessio Vasquez of the LSU men’s tennis team will be representing his home country of Germany in the 2025 World University Games.

Beginning July 16, around 8,500 student-athletes and officials from over 150 countries will compete for medals in 18 sports – making this one of the largest multi-sport events in the world in 2025. The tennis matches will begin July 17 in Essen, Germany with competition hosted at ETUF Tennisanlage.

Vasquez will be appearing in the men’s singles competition and will have his first match in the second round against Jason Fogle of South Africa.
