⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 4️⃣0️⃣ DAYS
Over the years, the number #4️⃣0️⃣ has become a staple in the LSU linebacker room.
Just a little sample of who’s donned the #4️⃣0️⃣ jersey?
Duke Riley
As the first talented linebacker in recent history to brandish the No. 40 jersey for LSU, Riley held onto his number for the entirety of his collegiate career. During that time, Riley was named team captain and team MVP in 2016.
Riley opened the gates to the prestige the No. 40 jersey would soon be followed with. After being drafted in the third round to the Atlanta Falcons, Riley passed the torch to one of LSU’s greatest linebackers of all time: Devin White.
Devin White
White entered his freshman season in 2017, following in Riley’s footsteps as the next player to wear No. 40. He took the jersey to an entirely different level, becoming one of LSU’s most decorated players.
White was twice named First Team All-Southeastern Conference, First Team All-American and was awarded the Butkus Award in 2018 before being drafted No. 5 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent his entire LSU career under the No. 40 jersey, solidifying its status as a legendary linebacker jersey.
Harold Perkins
Following White, Perkins entered his freshman year with impossible shoes to fill. Given the No. 40 jersey, he made his case as one of LSU’s most talented linebackers.
In his LSU career so far, Perkins has solidified himself as a top 10 player in the country, being named LSU Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-SEC and a Freshman All-American.
In his one year under the No. 40 jersey, Perkins Jr. became the backbone of a new age LSU team, further establishing the prestige of the jersey.
🔼 Among The Stars. Former LSU standout Angel Reese took her rightful place among the stars of the WNBA over the weekend, playing in her second WNBA All-Star in as many years.
Reese’s team came out victorious with the former Tiger pouring in six points and grabbing nine rebounds.
🔼 A True Legend. Late last week, a true LSU legend announced his retirement.
Longtime LSU public address announcer Dan Borné will retire as the public address announcer for LSU football and men’s basketball after serving as the voice behind the LSU PA system in Tiger Stadium for 38 years and LSU men’s basketball games in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for 36 years.
LSU won three national championships and six SEC titles during his run as PA announcer in Death Valley.

🔼 Make It Six. Former Tiger Sam Burns continued to make his case for a spot on the upcoming Ryder Cup squad, earning a sixth straight major cut at The Open Championship over the weekend.
Burns earned a spot in the top-50 with a one-under for the tournament.
He is only one of eight American golfers to make the cut at all four majors this year.

🔼 Country’s Finest. Before kicking it into high gear with her new LSU squad, incoming women’s basketball transfer MiLaysia Fulwiley has a few travel plans on her schedule.
Over the weekend, USA Basketball officially announced their women’s 2025 USA 3×3 Nations League roster with Fulwiley among the six players on the roster.
The team will compete at the 2025 FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference July 21-27 in Punta Arenas, Chile.
This past May, Fulwiley and her USA teammates participated in 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals in Mesa, Arizona, with Fulwiley winning the women’s tournament with team Chaos. Fulwiley was named the women’s MVP of the event.
Each member of this year’s women’s squad will be donning the red, white and blue for the first time in FIBA 3x3 competition.
