🏀 Twice As Nice
🐯 And much more!
🔼 Golden Girl. No better way to celebrate a patriotic weekend than with a gold medal, right?
LSU women’s hoops star Flau’jae Johnson did exactly that, earning her first gold medal on the international stage on Sunday as Team USA defeated Brazil, 92-84, at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile at the Center of Collective Sports.
Johnson, who made her debut in USA Basketball competition, was a part of a squad consisting of 12 collegiate players. Team USA went a perfect 7-0, and Johnson averaged 4.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and one assist per game.
Johnson’s top performance occurred in the quarterfinal round against the Dominican Republic on July 4. She finished with 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Johnson became the ninth USA player to record 20-plus points in an AmeriCup game with her defining performance the key to advancing the United States to the semifinal round.
🔼 Hey Now, You’re An All-Star. Two former LSU Baseball All-Americans, right-hander Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates and third baseman Alex Bregman of the Boston Red Sox, were named Sunday to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game rosters.
Skenes, an MLB All-Star for the second straight season, was the starting pitcher for the National League as a rookie in last year’s Midsummer Classic.
Bregman, also an American League All-Star in 2018 and 2019 with the Houston Astros, was the 2018 All-Star Game Most Valuable Player.

🔼 Twice As Nice. Two seasons, two All-Star nods.
Angel Reese is showing the WNBA exactly what us Tigers fans already knew, she’s a star.
Not only does she lead the league in rebounding average with 12.6 rebounds per game, she's comfortably leading the pack. The next closest player is A'ja Wilson, who has 9.9 rebounds per game. Reese also has 201 total rebounds, which is 39 more than second-place Azura Stevens.
So far in 2025, Reese is also averaging 12.4 points and 3.8 assists per game.
