Bayou Brew 8/15: Auspicious Start For LSU Soccer
The LSU soccer team sent a strong message about what’s to come with a 2-0 victory over South Alabama in Thursday’s season opener at home.
TGIF, LSU Fam. The LSU Soccer team (1-0-0) kicked off the 2025 season with a win over South Alabama (0-1-0) on Thursday night at the LSU Soccer Stadium by a final score of 2-0.
Junior forward Ava Galligan and senior midfielder Ida Hermannsdottir found the back of the net for the Tigers, tallying the first goals of the season and securing a victory in the season opener.

🔼 Heartwarming Hoops Huddle. Coach Redus showed his squad some love.
Coach even singled out incoming freshman Divine Bourrage for hard work. The 5-11 guard has shown the ability to score the ball from anywhere on the court and can play all three guard positions at her size. She was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in her home state of Iowa during her junior season. 👇🏼

🔼 All Signals Go. LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is on the Manning Award Watch List for the most outstanding quarterback award.
It’s no surprise, looking at these stats:
First player in LSU history to return as starting quarterback after passing for 4,000 yards the previous season … One of only 4 to do it in SEC history (Bryce Young, Alabama; Will Rogers, Mississippi State; Chad Kelly, Ole Miss) … Started all 13 games for the Tigers in 2024, leading LSU to a 9-4 mark and a win over Baylor in the Texas Bowl.

🔼 Courting Success. Assistant Coach Chris Simpson has been promoted to Associate Head Coach of the LSU Women’s Tennis program, Head Coach Taylor Fogleman announced today.
On the court, Simpson aided the Tigers to a 24-8 overall record for the 2024-25 season.
In his third year as assistant coach, the former LSU Men’s Tennis standout has played a pivotal role in the program’s recruiting success. His efforts have helped bring in a strong freshman class featuring Cadence Brace, Kayla Cross, and Tilwith Di Girolami, as well as the upcoming class of Carolina Kuhl, Addison Lanton, Alexia Marginean, and Ioana Sava.
⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 1️⃣5️⃣ DAYS
Walk a Myle in His Shoes. Though one-time LSU quarterback and #1️⃣5️⃣ Myles Brennan suffered an unfortunate season-ending injury against Missouri in week three of 2020, he entered that season as LSU’s starting quarterback. He threw for over 1,100 yards and 11 TDs before the injury. Brennan appeared in 20 games during his career, starting three times. For his career, he completed 121-of-201 passes for 1,712 yards, 13 TDs and six interceptions. He was also revered as a team leader who served as a mentor to the younger Tigers.
