🔼 Full-Circle Moment. Former LSU SEC Player of the Year Marcus Thornton has joined the LSU Basketball program’s support staff for the 2025-26 season. He will serve in an off-court role in mentoring players and assisting in the player development aspect of the program under the direction of Coach Matt McMahon.

Thornton earned SEC Player of the Year honors and consensus first team All-America honors in the 2008-09 season in which the Tigers captured the SEC championship under first-year coach Trent Johnson.

🔼 They Lowered the Boom. A huge shout-out to LSU MBB Associate HC David Patrick for his role in this tremendous achievement!

🔼 Brief Blip. The LSU Soccer team (1-1-0) fell to No. 10 Wake Forest (2-0-0) by a final score of 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Spry Stadium. 

The Demon Deacons defended their home pitch thanks to a lone goal from Lola Ressler in the 32nd minute. The Tigers created multiple big chances, but ultimately could not find the equalizer in Winston-Salem. 

Senior goalkeeper Sophine Kevorkian made two big saves for LSU.

🔼 Par For the Tiger Course. LSU Men’s Golf Head Coach Jake Amos announced that former Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year and Division II All-America golfer Reece Coleman is joining the coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.

Coleman spent the 2023-24 season at Georgia Southern University, where he averaged a team-low 72.06 for 33 rounds. He posted par or better in 18 rounds and had 116 birdies on the year. In 2022-23, he was ranked sixth in Division II by Golfstat and was named a Division II PING first-team All-America as he led the Trojans to five straight team titles to start the 2022-23 season.

🔼 Three Cheers For This News. Dalton Stanley, who helped lead Western Kentucky to three UCA National Championships, has been named LSU’s head cheerleading coach and spirit squad coordinator. In addition to his role at Western Kentucky, Stanley has also coached the USA Cheer National Premier teams and the USA Cheer All-Girl National Team.

Before his coaching career, Stanley was a collegiate cheerleader at Ole Miss, where he competed at the national level for the Rebels while developing his passion for the sport.

🔼 Swinging For the Fences. LSU alum Sahvanna Jaquish played a massive role in the USA winning gold at The World Games 2025!

A Tiger’s Dozen. Well, this is an easy one. The LSU football team has won 1️⃣2️⃣ SEC football championships, most recently in 2019.
