Bayou Brew 8/19: Tigers Ready For Red Raiders
The LSU Tigers MBB team will face Texas Tech in the opening game of the USLBM Coast to Coast Challenge on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Taco Tuesday, LSU Fam? Dickies Arena in Fort Worth will once again host a men’s college basketball doubleheader this season in which the LSU Tigers will face Texas Tech in the opening game of the USLBM Coast to Coast Challenge on Sunday, Dec. 7.
The event will tip off with LSU vs. Texas Tech, followed by TCU vs. North Texas. Game times are still TBD, but both games are expected to air on the ESPN Networks.
Texas Tech is coming off an Elite Eight season with a 28-9 overall record and will feature the Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year JT Toppin.

🔼 The Writing is On the Wall. ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach released College Football Playoff and bowl projections last week, and both predict LSU to make the 12-team playoff.
Schlabach has LSU as a 10-seed, beating No. 7 Notre Dame in South Bend to advance to the quarterfinals, where they would face No. 2 Clemson in the Orange Bowl. Bonagura has LSU as a 9-seed, losing to No. 8 Oregon in Eugene in the first round.

🔼 Sahvanna Sets Gold Standard. ICYMI! Former LSU softball player Sahvanna Jaquish and the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) secured the gold medal after a dominating week in the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China.
Jaquish had two hits in the World Games, highlighted by a three-run homer in the second inning of the gold medal game against Chinese Taipei.
Team USA outscored its opponents 32-8, including two shutouts against Chinese Taipei, claiming its fourth gold medal in the World Games, and improving to 23-0 all-time in the World Games tournament.

🔼 A Ray of Light. Former Wofford men’s tennis standout Ashe Ray has been named assistant coach for LSU women’s tennis, head coach Taylor Fogleman announced.
Ray continues his coaching career in Baton Rouge after joining Elon’s women’s tennis staff in June 2024, guiding the program to its first-ever CAA title. The Phoenix capped the season with a 19-6 overall record, best since the 2012-13 season, and earned their first NCAA Regional berth in over a decade.
During his time at Wofford, Ray earned a spot on the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team in 2020-21 and Southern Conference All-Academic Team in 2021-22.

Your LSU YETI Game Changer of the Week is soccer star Ava Galligan, who scored the first goal of the season and the tenth of her career in the season opener against South Alabama!
And here are some more impressive stats from 2024:
Provided a spark in LSU’s attack, appearing in 20 matches with 12 starts… Galligan tallied five goals and two assists for 12 total points—second on the team in scoring… She delivered match-winning goals against South Alabama and Old Dominion.

LSU finished the 2011 regular season undefeated with a 12-0 record and then defeated Georgia in the SEC Championship Game to improve to 13-0. They then lost to Alabama 21-0 in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game.
