An Exclusive Sit-Down Interview with LSU Athletics Director Verge Ausberry

In November of 2025, Verge Ausberry, the New Iberia, La., native and veteran senior administrator was named LSU’s 11th Director of Athletics following more than 30 years of service to the University. In an exclusive LSU+ sit-down interview, Ausberry joins Voice of the Tigers Chris Blair to recap his first eight months on the job and discuss the future of the department. He also remembers the life and legacy of one of his mentors, Skip Bertman, one of the most influential figures in the history of LSU Athletics.

🔼 Honoring a Legend. A reminder for Tiger fans: the Celebration of Life honoring Skip Bertman is Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and general admission seating in the upper bowl. Can't attend in person? The celebration will be broadcast live on the SEC Network, ESPN+, and the LSU Sports YouTube and Facebook pages. In lieu of flowers, the Bertman family requests donations in Skip's honor to the organizations where he made a lasting impact.

🔼 Global Ball. LSU's Sariyah Bailey is taking her talents to the world stage! The sophomore forward was selected to Canada's 21-player roster for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland, running Sept. 5-27. Canada opens Group B play against England before facing Brazil and Tanzania. Bailey earned the honor after a standout freshman campaign at LSU that featured nine goals and seven assists while helping the Tigers reach their first-ever NCAA Sweet 16. Canada punched its World Cup ticket by winning the 2025 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship, marking the nation's first since 2008!

🔼 Defensive Anchors. Princewill Umanmielen, Whit Weeks, and DJ Pickett all landed on the preseason Bednarik Award Watch List, given to the top defensive player in college football!
