🔼 She Used Her Head. The LSU Soccer team (3-2-0) defeated #21 Wisconsin (4-1-0) Thursday night at the LSU Soccer Stadium by a score of 1-0.
Junior forward Ava Galligan knocked a header from a pass by freshman forward Sariyah Bailey into the back of the net in the 90th minute to secure the victory.
🔼 Court is in Session. The LSU volleyball team opens the 2025 season Aug. 29-31 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, hosting three matches on opening weekend, including Top 25 matchups.
LSU opens with No. 10 SMU at 7 p.m. CT Friday, faces South Alabama at 7 p.m. CT Saturday, and concludes the weekend against No. 20 Baylor at 2 p.m. CT Sunday.
The Tigers were picked eighth in the 2025 SEC Preseason Coaches Poll and placed two outside hitters—Jurnee Robinson and Nia Washington—on the Preseason All-SEC Team.

🔼 All “Fore” One. Árni Sveinsson was named First Team All-American on Golfweek Magazine’s 2025-26 Men’s College Golf All-American teams. The sophomore star was also just named to the Haskins Watch List, an award that goes to the best collegiate men’s golfer in the nation.
Sveinsson finished 2024-25 second on the team in stroke average at 70.25 for 36 rounds, making him the third best in school history behind Sam Burns (2016-17) and Algot Kleen (2024-25). Sveinsson closed the year as a Second Team All-SEC member and was also recognized as an All-SEC Freshman.
🔼 Women’s Golf’s One-Two Punch. Two members of the LSU women’s golf team – sophomore Rocio Tejedo of Spain and Francesca Fiorellini of Italy – have been named to Golfweek’s 2025-26 Women’s College Golf Preseason All-America teams. Tejedo is listed as a preseason second-team selection, while Fiorellini is on the third team.
Tejedo had a strong freshman campaign, leading the team with a 71.49 stroke average with six top-five finishes for the Tigers. Fiorellini transferred to LSU after her freshman campaign at UCLA. She was a second-team All-Big Ten selection, competing in 10 tournaments for the Bruins with a 73.9 scoring average.
🔼 Aptly Named Coaching Addition. The LSU Swimming and Diving team has hired Pace Clark as a recruiting coordinator and assistant coach, head coach Rick Bishop announced.
Clark joins the LSU staff following one season as the head coach at Delta State. The Statesmen finished second in the NSISC last season – a season in which every athlete improved their time in at least one event.
Before coaching, Clark attended the University of Georgia, where he was an SEC Champion, a 12-time NCAA All-American, and a three-time All-SEC recipient.
🔼 Almost Famous. Former LSU WBB standout Quianna Chaney has been selected to the LHSAA’s Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026. Chaney played for the Tigers during their run of four-straight NCAA Final Four appearances from 2005-08.
Each year, the LHSAA and LHSCA invite all member school principals and coaches to nominate deserving coaches, athletes, administrators, officials, and athletic contributors for consideration for the Hall of Fame. The individuals selected to the Class of 2026 have made significant contributions to Louisiana high school sports, and their induction into the Hall of Fame is a testament to their exceptional achievements and enduring influence.

🔼 We Meet Again. The LSU cross country team is opening up the 2025 season in New Orleans at Lake Oaks Park this evening:

Entering this meet, the LSU women are ranked No. 18 in the nation by FloTrack in their preseason rankings. They also bring two strong freshmen in Abigael Chemnagei and Edna Chepkemoi, Chemnagei being ranked No. 23 nationally by FloTrack before stepping on the grass in the purple and gold. LSU’s men enter the season with just six returners and one incoming freshman, totaling seven on the roster.
