Bayou Brew 9/11: Almost Famous

Three former LSU athletes and a basketball coach are a part of a star-studded induction class for 2026.

Recent Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Sylvia Fowles, NFL star Todd McClure and NCAA Final Four basketball coach John Brady were chosen from the eight-member group of competitors’ ballot.

For the third time this decade, the Hall will present the Louisiana Sports Ambassador Award, this time to former Tiger Warren Morris, whose walk-off home run won the 1996 College World Series for LSU.

The remainder of the class includes NFL star Joe Horn and Pat Williams, Major League Baseball All-Star Jonathan Lucroy and basketball coaches Mike McConathy and Dewain Strother.

The Path | Lessons | S4 EP2

LSU Football returns to Death Valley for the 2025 home opener against in-state opponent Louisiana Tech. Although a winning effort, the Tigers learned some lessons about themselves and the standard they wish to uphold each week.

🔼 Hard-Hitting Softball News. The LSU softball team will play eight three-game series against Southeastern Conference softball programs, totaling 24 conference games. The conference released its league schedule for the 2026 softball season on Wednesday afternoon.

The Tigers begin their SEC slate with a series against Tennessee on March 6-8 in Knoxville, Tenn., before their home opening SEC series against Texas A&M on March 13-15 at Tiger Park. Other SEC series coming to Baton Rouge include matchups against Oklahoma (March 27-29), Ole Miss (April 17-19) and Auburn (April 30-May 2).

🥎: FULL SLATE

🔼 Number One, With Reservations. For the second week in a row, the SEC Network panel made the Tigers a unanimous No. 1 selection. It was given with a bit of reluctance, however: "I hated the way LSU played against such inferior competition (in a 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech)," admitted SEC host Dari Nowkhah, "but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt coming off that emotional (season-opening) win at Clemson and knowing Florida is visiting this week."

Coach Brian Kelly admitted that there were some areas that needed improvement in the Tigers’ play, particularly the offense, in his recent press conference. Saturday’s game against Florida will surely quell any doubts.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 1988!

In the final minutes of the game on Oct. 8, 1988, LSU quarterback Tommy Hodson threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to running back Eddie Fuller to secure the comeback victory. The crowd's cheer was so loud and intense that it registered as a legitimate seismic event on a seismograph located in the LSU geology department. One week later, on Oct. 15, 1988, LSU beat Florida, 19-18.
