🏈 Some Big LSU Alum Recognition
🏆 Dashawn Spears Earns SEC Defensive Player of the Week Honors
🏐 LSU Volleyball is HOT, HOT, HOT!
🐯 And much more!
Your YETI Game Changer of the Week is LSU volleyball player Jessica Jones!
Last year, her freshman season, Jones started and appeared in all 27 matches and 103 sets. The middle blocker concluded the season with a .305 hitting percentage behind 163 kills, had 0.88 blocks per set on 88 total blocks, including 15 solo blocks, and had 14 aces. Her 0.88 blocks per set were the third most in the SEC among freshmen. Jones turned in her first collegiate double-double with 12 kills and 12 blocks versus Troy (Aug. 31), making her the first player in program history to record double-digit blocks since 2021.
In LSU’s recent sweep over Notre Dame in the inaugural Showdown at the Net between SEC and ACC programs, Jones anchored LSU’s frontline, finishing with six blocks.

Sports Information | Press Box Stories & Florida Game Preview
After a very successful first episode, Michael Bonnette, Kent Lowe and Bill Franques have been renewed for a second. On the latest edition of Sports Information, the guys preview a big weekend on campus and recall some hysterical press box stories. If you take one thing from this show, it's probably this: nobody has a better memory than our SIDs. They remember everything, and that's why they are so good at what they do.

🔼 Just the Tip of the Spear. A pair of interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, propelled LSU safety Dashawn Spears to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors—the first SEC honor of his career.
Spears had interceptions in the first and third quarters as the Tigers picked off a total of five Florida passes in the 20-10 victory. Spears’ first-quarter interception stopped a Florida drive at the LSU 26-yard line. He returned his third-quarter interception 58 yards for a touchdown, extending No. 3-ranked LSU’s lead to 20-10.
Through three games, LSU’s defense is allowing only 9.0 points and a league-best 56.0 rushing yards a game.

🔼 A Bird in the Hand. The No. 7 LSU Men’s Golf team opened up its week with a 14-under performance through two rounds, putting them in first on Monday at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. The tournament is held at the par-70, 6,530-yard Shoreacres course.
After an impressive opener a week ago in Tennessee, Noah McWilliams blazed through two rounds of stroke play in Illinois with a nine-under performance and sole possession of first place. The junior opened with a six-under 64 in round one, which included eight birdies. He closed his day in round two, posting a three-under 67 with six more birdies. His 13-birdie total in two rounds leads the field, while he also has the best average for par threes (2.63) and par fours (3.88) so far.

🔼 2 Legit. This squad has been unstoppable!

🔼 It’s About Jurnee, Not the Destination. The Southeastern Conference has tabbed Jurnee Robinson as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week. The award is the first for the junior outside hitter this season, but fourth in her career.
Robinson has had a hot start to the season and continued to shine this week by leading LSU in sweeps at Notre Dame and at home against in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana. She currently leads the SEC with 5.10 kills (148 total) and ranks No. 2 with 5.63 points per set. She is the leading point scorer in the SEC with 163.5 total points in eight matches.

🔼 Talent Pays Off. Congrats to incoming Tiger Paytn Monticelli on taking home the bronze medal at the European Softball Championship with Great Britain Softball Women’s National Team and qualifying for the WBSC World Cup! During the tournament, Paytn had 33 Ks in 16.1 IP with an Opponent BA of just .073.

1️⃣ ONE BIG THING

Ronald’s Rarefied Air. Three-time All-SEC men’s basketball guard Ronald Dupree, who helped lead the Tigers to the 2000 NCAA Sweet 16, is a member of the 2025 LSU Athletics Hall of Fame induction class and will be formally enshrined on Friday, Sept. 19.
In Dupree’s first year, the Tigers advanced to the 2000 NCAA Sweet 16 and won the conference championship. He is still No. 9 in both career scoring and career rebounds in the school record book. He is one of only five players to rank in the LSU’s career Top 10 in both scoring and rebounding – the others are Shaquille O’Neal, Rudy Macklin, Bob Pettit and Tasmin Mitchell.
