🔼 Countdown to Tipoff. Are you ready for LSU women’s basketball to get back on the court?

🔼 Hayes Goes Low. LSU men's golf closed the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational with its best round of the season to finish tied for ninth at 21-under. Dan Hayes led the charge with a career-best fifth-place finish at 11-under for the weekend, doing most of the damage Saturday with a 7-under 63 that featured six birdies and an eagle against a single bogey. His 16 birdies tied for third-most in the field. Louisiana seniors Jay Mendell and Noah McWilliams both closed at 4-under to share 36th, with Mendell recording the third-most pars of the tournament.

🔼 On To The Next. LSU checks in at No. 10 in the AP Poll and No. 11 in the latest Coaches Top 25, released yesterday, after a 32-24 loss at Ole Miss. Sam Leavitt and the Tigers erased a 24-7 halftime hole with 17 unanswered points, tying the game at 24 on a Scott Starzyk field goal with 11:21 to play, before the Rebels took the lead for good. Jakeem Jackson gave LSU its only takeaway with a third-quarter interception that set up a Leavitt rushing score. The Tigers return to Death Valley on Saturday night for a 6:30 p.m. CT kick against Texas A&M on ABC.

🔼 Wall Of Blocks. LSU volleyball rallied from down 2-1 to knock off Tulsa in five sets Friday night in Coral Gables, closing out the Canes Classic with a win. The Tigers built it on defense, piling up a season-high 14 blocks and 65 digs while holding a Golden Hurricane team with a top-10 win on its resume to a .176 hitting percentage. Jurnee Robinson turned in another monster night with 25 kills on .392 hitting, 12 digs, and three aces for 30.5 points, capping the match with back-to-back kills. Sanaa Donaie matched a career high with eight blocks, three of them solo. LSU opens SEC play Wednesday at home against Alabama.

🔼 Home Relay Win. The LSU women took the team title at their own Twilight XC Relay Invitational on Friday, piling up 23 points at the UREC Field Complex. Edna Chepkemoi and Maddie Gump won the 2x3k relay in 20:01.5, nearly 50 seconds faster than last year's winning time. Micaela Villarreal and Ahry Comer finished right behind in second, with Abigael Chemnagei and Stella Junius fourth. On the men's side, Jayden Williams and Hugh Carlson cracked the top five in the 2x4k at 25:29.9.

🔼 Ranked & Ready. LSU swimming and diving opens the season with both teams inside the CSCAA Division I Preseason Top 25. The men check in at No. 14 for the second consecutive season, the fourth-highest ranking in the conference, while the women land at No. 17. The Tigers held their annual Purple & Gold Intrasquad on Saturday and are now set to open outside competition Oct. 9 at the Naval Academy against Navy and Loyola (Md.).

🔼 Portal Haul. Baseball America has ranked LSU's transfer portal class No. 2 in the country for 2027, with eight Tigers appearing on the publication's Top 130 list of portal players. Sophomore right-hander Landon Hood tops that list at No. 1 overall, arriving from Gonzaga, while sophomore outfielder Angel Laya checks in at No. 5 and junior outfielder Bino Watters at No. 12. Full-squad fall practice begins Oct. 8, with four exhibition games on the calendar before the Tigers open the regular season Feb. 19 against Long Island.
