Small Talk: Walt Holliday, Executive Director of the Cox Academic Center for Student Athletes

On the second episode of Small Talk, The Lab: LaKeitha Poole and Tyrus Thomas welcome Walt Holliday, Executive Director of the Cox Academic Center for Student Athletes, into studio to talk about his role, his career and much more. A member of the LSU staff since July of 2009, Holliday is responsible for the internal operations of the Academic Center and ensuring that the various needs of our students, staff, and faculty are met for the purposes of enhancing the quality of services and adhering to the university’s flagship agenda.

🔼 SEC Play Opens. LSU volleyball kicks off SEC play tonight at 7 p.m. CT, hosting Alabama at the Maravich Center on SEC Network+. The Tigers have won 10 of the last 12 meetings and hold a 24-6 record against the Crimson Tide in Baton Rouge. LSU enters on a five-match streak of double-digit blocks, capped by a season-high 14.0 in a five-set comeback over Tulsa, where Sanaa Donaie posted a career-high eight. Jurnee Robinson continues to lead the nation with 5.50 kills per set. Alabama arrives riding a six-match winning streak.

🔼 Tigers In The Desert. Former LSU pitchers Luke Holman and Fidel Ulloa have been selected for the Arizona Fall League, MLB's showcase for top prospects. Holman, the No. 23 prospect in the Cincinnati Reds organization, heads to the Peoria Javelinas after posting a 2.70 ERA across four starts in his return from Tommy John surgery. Ulloa joins the Salt River Rafters following a season with Double-A Hartford, where he went 6-3 with seven saves and a 3.72 ERA. The league runs Oct. 3 through the Nov. 14 Championship Game at the Peoria Sports Complex.
