Sports Information | How Students Impact Winning + What Led Michael, Kent & Bill into Communications
It's another edition of Sports Information with Michael Bonnette, Kent Lowe and Bill Franques! On this episode, the guys talk about Friday's LSU Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony, how students are the backbone of our department, and what got them into the communications industry (and what's kept them in it, too).
Your YETI Game Changer of the Week is LSU football player Ju’Juan Johnson!
After Saturday night’s smooth sailing 56-10 victory over Southeastern, this shifty running back who thrives with a ball in his hands finished the night with 43 yards and two TDs on eight carries.

🔼 The Final Say From BK. LSU Head Football Coach Brian Kelly provided some injury updates during his most recent press conference:
-West Weeks: Probable
-Trey’Dez Green: Will play
-Caden Durham: Day-to-day. "He was better than we first thought."
-Gabe Reliford: Out with a shoulder injury. Surgery could be an option.

🔼 Two Roads Diverged On the Field. When Bauer Sharp walked into LSU’s football facility for the first time, he already felt like he’d come full circle. A native of Alabama, Sharp started his college career at Southeastern Louisiana, just 45 minutes down the road in Hammond. Three years, one position change, and a stop at Oklahoma later, he found himself back in Louisiana, ready to close his college career in purple and gold.
Across the locker room sat Jack Pyburn, who had taken a completely different route to the same destination. A Jacksonville, Fla., native, Pyburn had spent three seasons at the University of Florida, carving out his role on the defensive line before deciding he needed a fresh start. He wanted to find a system that would give him the chance to grow into the kind of defensive end he knew he could become.
Two transfers. Two different backgrounds. Yet almost instantly, they found themselves drawn together, discovering that despite their contrasting paths, they had more in common than either expected.

🔼 Francesca’s Bird’s Eye View. Birdies on the final two holes of play, including one on the 18th hole after a one-hour delay, allowed LSU sophomore Francesca Fiorellini to become the first Tiger women’s golfer to post a school record 9-under 63 in collegiate competition on Monday.
The round came on the opening day of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic at the Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club’s Fazio Course in Wolcott, Colorado.
Fiorellini, who transferred to LSU after her freshman season at UCLA, posted nine birdies and no bogeys to become the first LSU female to shoot 63. She joins five members of the LSU men’s golf team who have posted 9-under 63 rounds in the last 40 years.

Answer: Jurnee Robinson!
In the LSU volleyball team’s win over Oklahoma last October, outside hitter Jurnee Robinson led the Tigers with 17 kills, three aces, three blocks and eight digs. All three of Robinson’s blocks were solo blocks, registering a new career-high for the sophomore. Outside hitter Lainee Pyles set a new season-best with 15 kills.
