🔼 Death Valley Domination. Marcel Reed finished with 106 passing yards and minus-13 on the ground, and that tells you everything about Saturday night in Baton Rouge. LSU's defense throttled No. 23 Texas A&M from start to finish in a 35-6 rout, forcing a fourth-down stop, a Tamarcus Cooley sack, and a Cooley interception for good measure. Sam Leavitt was sharp with 312 yards and two touchdowns, both to Jackson Harris, who broke out for 163 yards on six catches, including a 57-yard strike on fourth down. Winston Watkins Jr. added 107 yards of his own.

📅 The Tigers, who held steady at No. 11 in the AP Poll & Coaches Poll this week, are 3-1 and host McNeese on Saturday night at 6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

🔼 Remembering Bob Pettit. LSU and basketball lost a legend Wednesday as Bob Pettit passed away at 93. The Baton Rouge native was a consensus All-American who led the Tigers to SEC titles in 1953 and 1954 and the program's first Final Four in 1953, averaging better than 30 points per game as a senior. His No. 50 became the first jersey retired by LSU in any sport. Pettit went on to a Hall of Fame NBA career with the Hawks, winning two MVP awards, making 11 All-Star teams, and becoming the first player in league history to reach 20,000 career points. He was honored with a statue outside the Maravich Center in 2016.

🔼 Oregon Kid, Louisiana Heart. Sam Leavitt grew up in West Linn, Oregon, in a football family; his dad played linebacker at BYU, and his older brother spent six NFL seasons. Louisiana barely registered as a real place until he took his visit. Now he's the face of LSU's offense after leading Arizona State to an 11-win season and a College Football Playoff berth, then topping ESPN's transfer rankings. He announced himself in Week 1 against Clemson with 230 passing yards, a career-best 113 on the ground, and three total touchdowns, earning SEC Offensive Player of the Week. Off the field, he's been active with The Emma Foundation, which helps children pursue treatment and healing.

🔼 More Than One Night. Dashawn Spears never wanted to be remembered for just the two-interception, pick-six performance against Florida that made him SEC Defensive Player of the Week; he wanted every game to look like that one. The Denham Springs product grew up five minutes from Tiger Stadium, close enough to hear it rocking on fall nights, and stayed home through the coaching change to play at his dream school in front of family. He moved into the hybrid STAR position this season before suffering a season-ending injury at Ole Miss on Sept. 19. He'll be back, and he remains a vital part of the future of LSU football.

🔼 Point At Home. LSU soccer battled Georgia to a 1-1 draw, with Ava Amsden supplying the Tiger goal. Amsden was the most dangerous player on the field for the purple and gold, putting two of her three shots on target. LSU's back line kept Georgia to a single shot on goal across the full 90 minutes, and Audur Scheving went the distance in net.

🔼 Bouncing Back. LSU men's golf checks in at No. 17 in the first regular-season Bushnell/Golfweek DI Coaches' Poll. The Tigers have played two tournaments in a week, following a 30-over showing at the Inverness Intercollegiate with a much sharper 21-under performance at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational. They've done it without junior Árni Sveinsson, who has yet to compete this season. Next up is the Bryan Bros Collegiate in West Columbia, S.C., beginning today.
