Bayou Brew 9/5: Death Valley Activate

LSU Football welcomes Louisiana Tech tomorrow for its home opener.

Bring on game two, LSU Fam. As Alabama football coach Bear Bryant once said, “Baton Rouge happens to be the worst place in the world for a visiting team. It's like being inside a drum.”

Buckle up, Louisiana Tech.

Hurricane Katrina | 20th Anniversary Documentary

🔼 A Decisive Course of Action. The No. 7-ranked LSU men’s golf team is set to open its fall season in Loudon, Tenn., this weekend at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate, hosted by Tennessee. The men are set to play three total rounds—teeing off with 18 holes today, sticking with 18 holes apiece on Saturday and Sunday.

The event is scheduled to take place at the par-70, 7,280-yard Tennessee National Golf Club. The Greg Norman-designed course, situated along the Tennessee River, offers a long and challenging layout.

The Tigers enter this week as the second-highest ranked team at the tournament, holding a No. 7 ranking from Golfweek. Ole Miss is ranked as the top competition at No. 6.

🔼 McMic News 🎤. Dixon McMakin has been named the new PA announcer for Tiger Stadium. McMakin will take the microphone for the first time in Tiger Stadium tomorrow night, as LSU hosts Louisiana Tech. McMakin is a 2009 graduate of LSU and a 2013 alum of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU.

McMakin will take over the position held by longtime PA announcer Dan Borné, who announced his retirement from the booth earlier this year. Borné was the voice of LSU football and basketball for 38 years and will be honored at a football game later this season.

McMakin served as the primary announcer for MBB after Borné stepped away for the 2024-25 games. He also serves as the primary announcer for LSU volleyball and softball.
