The Hurry Up: Dillin Jones Talks Monster Debut, LSU Rushing Attack

What a debut for Dillin Jones, who rushed for 113 yards on 23 carries for two touchdowns. He joined Gordy Rush immediately following the game for another edition of The Hurry Up, recapping the Tigers' commanding 51-10 win over Clemson.

🔼 Death Valley Delivers. Weather delay? Didn't matter. No. 11 LSU started the Lane Kiffin Era by burying Clemson 51-10 on Saturday night, piling up 644 yards of total offense in a wire-to-wire beatdown in Death Valley. Sam Leavitt was electric in his LSU debut, throwing for 230 yards and running for 113 more with three total touchdowns, while Dillin Jones matched him on the ground with 113 yards and a pair of scores. The defense got in on it, too, as Jordan Ross picked off Christopher Vizzina and took it 30 yards to the house for LSU's first pick six since last September. The Tigers are back in Baton Rouge next Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. CT kick against Louisiana Tech.

🔼 To SEC Play. LSU soccer closed out non-conference play with a 3-2 win at Miami Ohio last night. Freshman Berglind Hlynsdottir opened the scoring in the 15th minute with her first collegiate goal, assisted by Ava Galligan, who then doubled the lead herself in the 35th for the 24th goal of her career. Ava Amsden converted a penalty kick in the 69th minute to restore the two-goal cushion, and Audur Scheving came up with four saves, including a penalty stop, to preserve the victory. The Tigers open SEC play Friday, hosting Tennessee at 7 p.m. CT.

🔼 Podium Finish. LSU cross country opened the 2026 season at the Battle for New Orleans, with the women taking third as a team at Lake Oaks Park. Maddie Gump paced the Tigers with a ninth-place finish in the 4k at 14:27.8, and all five LSU runners on the course finished inside the top 30 to total 78 points. Hugh Carlson led the men, clocking 14:55.9 in the 5k. The Tigers return to action on Friday, hosting the LSU Twilight Relay Invitational at the UREC Field Complex in Baton Rouge.

🔼 Third Top-10 Nod. LSU men's golf checked in at No. 9 in the preseason Bushnell/Golfweek DI Coaches' Poll released Friday, the Tigers' third top-10 ranking of the preseason. Golfweek magazine had them at No. 6 earlier in the week, with Golf Channel slotting them 10th. LSU is coming off a 12th-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Championships, the program's first appearance under head coach Jake Amos in just his second season. The Tigers open the fall slate Sept. 13 at the three-day Inverness Intercollegiate.
