Bayou Brew 4/11: Cardiac Cats

Today, softball wins in walk-off fashion, Pair of the Week, and tee time at The Masters.

Good morning! Start your day with Chris Blair’s Call of the Game from Tuesday night’s baseball win!

What else did we pour into today’s Brew?

🥎 That’s walk-off number five
🏐 Pair of the Week
🐯 And much, much more!

Play By Play. Before LSU Gymnastics heads to Fort Worth to appear in NCAA Championships, Ashleigh Gnat joins Chris Blair and Kent Lowe on this week's edition of Play by Play, presented by The Advocate.

🔼 Petty Palooza. One thing LSU softball likes to do is finish games in dramatic fashion. Last night, the sixth-ranked Tigers beat Southeastern Louisiana, 7-5, in their fifth walk-off win of the year! The Tigers trailed 5-4 going into the bottom of the eighth inning when Raeleen Gutierrez was walked and McKenzie Redoutey hit a single. With two runners on, Karli Petty was up to bat. She sent the fourth pitch over the wall to score three runs and walk off the game! The Tigers will host Auburn this weekend at Tiger Park.

🔼 Twice As Nice. Beach volleyball duo Gabi Bailey and Ellie Shank earned CCSA Pair of the Week honors! They got a straight set win to help LSU defeat Southern Miss on Friday, then defeated a pair from No. 16 Stetson. On Saturday, they beat a duo from No. 15 Georgia State. This is the second-straight week that an LSU pair received the honor, Aubrey O’Gorman and Ella Larkin took it home last week.

🔼 Double Trouble. Two Tigers made The Bowerman Women’s Mid-Outdoor Watch List this week — Brianna Lyston and Michaela Rose. Brianna has made the last four watch lists as she had an amazing indoor season and has started her outdoor season strong. Michaela was the only 2023 Bowerman Semifinalist on the watch list. She clocked a collegiate record in the 600m at the Keyth Talley Invitational.

🔼 Appreciation Station. Come on out to the PMAC tonight for the women’s basketball Appreciation Banquet! Doors open at 6 pm and the program begins at 7 pm. If you can’t make it out, be sure to check out the silent auction items here!

🔼 Burns, Baby, Burns. Former LSU men’s golfer Sam Burns will make his third appearance at The Masters today! He’ll tee off at 12:12 pm with Adam Scott and Cameron Young. Sam has recorded three top-10 finishes so far this season and is ranked 24th in FedEx Cup points on the PGA Tour. He’s ranked as the No. 22 golfer in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Today’s trivia question…

Who are the two former Tigers that have finished in the top-10 at The Masters?
