Bayou Brew 8/10: Double Trouble

Today, we're voting for Dylan Crews and two LSU running backs on the watch list.

Good morning. We wish we were waking up in the Bahamas like the LSU men’s basketball team is, but one can dream! Here’s another vlog from the boys in the Bahamas to make you feel a little closer to Paradise.

What else did we pour into today's Brew?

⚾️ Time to vote, again
⛳️ Two Tigers tee off at the AIG Women’s Open
🐯 And much, much more!

Drafted. LSU Baseball fan-favorite Tre’ Morgan had dreams of entering the MLB Draft before becoming the Tigers standout first baseman. Signified by the sleeve on his elbow, hear Tre’s story of perseverance and love for the game that led him to become a Tampa Bay Ray.

🔼  Crewsin’ To The Final. If this sounds familiar to you, that’s because it is! Remember when you voted for Dylan Crews as a semifinalist? He’s now been named a finalist for the AAU James E. Sullivan Award. You voted last time and now it’s time to vote again. Voting is now open to the public and will close Wednesday, August 16, at 10:59pm CT. Speaking of Dylan Crews… He hit his first professional grand slam this week with the Fredericksburg Nationals! Check it out. He went 4-5 Tuesday night and he’ll be in the majors before we know it!

🔼 Date With Dayton. The LSU men’s basketball team will play Dayton in the opening round of the Charleston Classic on November 16 at 3:00pm CT. The Tigers will play once a day on November 16, 17, and 19 with the two unbeaten teams facing off in the championship game. The Tigers are still in the Bahamas and will play their final game today at 1:00pm CT against Argentina’s Obras Sanitarias. Check out Kent Lowe’s recap from Paradise so far!

🔼 Open Up. LSU’s Ingrid Lindblad and former Tiger Madelene Sagstrom are teeing off today at the AIG Women’s Open in Surrey, England for the final major of the LPGA season. Ingrid is the No. 1 amateur in the world and holds 11 career titles at LSU as she tees off for the fourth time at this event. Madelene will be playing in her seventh Women’s Open, she’s made the cut four times and had a second-place finish in 2021. Television coverage began at 5:00am CT on USA Network.

⛳️ Meanwhile at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, Latanna Stone and Taylor Riley are moving on to round 2 of match play! The round of 32 and the round of 16 will be played today with the round of 16 airing on the Golf Channel at 5:00pm CT.

🔼 Double Trouble. It would be safe to say that the Tigers are loaded in the running back room, especially with this announcement! Josh Williams and Noah Cain were both named to the Doak Walker Award preseason watch list. The award goes to the top running back in college football, and it’s an honor to have two on the list.

Yesterday, we told you that Jayden Daniels was on the Davey O’Brien Award watch list.

Today’s trivia question…

Do you know who the only LSU quarterback to win the O’Brien Award is?
