Good morning. It’s Tuesday and two Tiger teams are playing today. It’s been one long hot summer, but LSU sports are finally back! Today, we have soccer and basketball in action.

Drafted. Before he was the No. 1 draft pick, Paul Skenes was just a kid with big dreams. From California and Colorado to Baton Rouge and Pittsburgh, from behind the plate to on top of the mound, Paul’s journey to the draft has been unlike any other.

Tigers Win. We’re back with volleyball coach Tonya Johnson as she prepares for her second season at LSU! We preview the upcoming volleyball season, tripling season ticket sales in one year, and personalities on the team. The volleyball team will host the Purple & Gold Scrimmage on August 19 before starting the season with the Tiger Classic on August 25 & 26 against UCLA.

🔼  Fever Pitch. LSU soccer is back! The Tigers are in Colorado to play two exhibition matches, one at Denver today and one at Air Force on Saturday. This will start Coach Hudson’s fourth year with the Tigers as they look for their third NCAA Tournament trip under her reign. LSU soccer attendance records have been broken since she’s been at the helm, owning two of the program’s top ten all-time largest crowds. The Tigers will have 11 home games, including five SEC matches. The Tigers play Denver tonight at 8:00pm CT.

🔼 Ballin’ In The Bahamas. LSU got their first win of their three-game summer tour in the Bahamas. The Tigers defeated Puerto Rico 86-82 yesterday. LSU went 10-of-18 from behind the three-point line. Tyrell Ward had 19 points while Jordan Wright and Daimion Collins had 13 each. Today, they’ll face a team from the Bahamas at 3:00pm CT.

🔼 Crossing Things Off. The 2023 cross country schedule has been released! The Tigers will have four regular season meets and three postseason meets. They’ll start things off in New Orleans for the UNO Opener on September 1 before coming back home to host the LSU Invitational on September 15. They’ll head to Florida State on September 29 and wrap up the regular season at Texas A&M in October.

🔼 Seeing Double. Wide receiver Malik Nabers found himself on another watch list yesterday for the Biletnikoff Award. The award is given to the most outstanding receiver in college football. Malik is also on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, presented to the best player in college football. He led the SEC in receptions last season and ranked No. 2 in the league in receiving yards.

In other football news, the Tigers landed at No. 5 in the USA Today Preseason Coaches’ Poll!

LSU is tied for third in the amount of times they have hosted College GameDay.
