Eye To Eye with Brian Kelly. Coach Brian Kelly sits down with us to give an update on his life since moving to Louisiana a year and a half ago, NIL changing the landscape, roster changes, QB Jayden Daniels and everything in between. The 2023 spring game is this Saturday, April 22.
🔼 Fore The Championship. Men’s golf starts SEC Championship play today at Sea Island Golf Club - Seaside Course. Teams play 54 holes of stroke play through Friday. Drew Doyle leads the team with a 71.30 stroke average, placing top-10 five times this year. Last year, LSU advanced to the semifinal round.
🔼 In-State Rivalry. The Tigers baseball team dropped one last night to in-state foe Louisiana-Lafayette, 8-5. Tommy White had four hits on the night, scoring one run. Dylan Crews batted .491 with three walks and one run scored. Tre’ Morgan had two hits for two RBIs and a run scored. The Tigers will head to Ole Miss for a weekend series starting Friday.
🔼 Beyond The Bayou. Men’s basketball forward KJ Williams was invited to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament where 64 players showcase their skills in front of professional scouts. KJ earned All-Tournament honors after finishing three games with 46 points and 30 rebounds.
🔼 Scholarly. LSU volleyball’s Jill Bohnet and cross country/track and field’s Jackson Martingayle are the LSU nominees for the SEC’s McWhorter Award! The award is presented to the SEC’s top male and female scholar-athletes.
🏐 Jill received the 2022 Bengal Belles Academic Achievement Award, the LSU President’s Alumni Scholar Award, and the LSU Distinguished Communicator Award. She had a career-best season with 2.96 digs per set, 346 total digs, and 14 aces.
🎽 Jackson is a five-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and was a member of the 2021 National Championship track and field team. He’s majoring in Natural Resource Ecology and Management.
Bayou Traditions raises funds to provide Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) opportunities to LSU student-athletes—making NIL deals more accessible and sustainable and allowing student-athletes to gain finance and business experience without compromising their focus on studies and sports.
NIL is a competitive space and now influences where an athlete attends college.We need the Tiger community to join us and keep LSU at the forefront of NIL!
