⚾️ Familiar face returns
🐯 And much, much more!
The Powerhouse. The 2024 LSU baseball season came to a close in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, but the Tigers’ special run to earn their postseason bid was possible due to their undying fight displayed down the stretch. Despite the tough road put in front of them, Coach Jay Johnson’s staff and players made it to the regional championship against North Carolina. Johnson - with Omaha set in his sights for the 2025 season already - prepares to forge another CWS-caliber roster.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Sha’Carri In Paris. Former Tiger Sha’Carri Richardson is Paris bound! She ran the fastest time in the world to win the 100m at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials to punch her first Olympic ticket. She finished the race in 10.71 seconds. Tiger teammate Aleia Hobbs finished right outside of the qualifying bubble with a fifth-place finish.
🔼 LSU Across The World. The success for Tiger track & field athletes continued in Africa. Tima Godbless and the Nigerian women’s 4×100m relay crew took African Championship gold! They ran a 42.76s time to take the title for the second year in-a-row. Godson Oghenebrume and the Nigerian men’s 4×100m relay team took silver at the African Championships.
Thelma Davies and Liberia took third-place in the 4×100m relay at the African Championship.
🔼 Tiger To Tiger. Men’s golf coach Jake Amos has announced another signing to the team! Alfons Bondesson transfers to LSU from Missouri with two years of eligibility remaining. At Missouri, he compiled a 71.68 stroke average with 28 rounds of par or better. He recorded two top-five finishes and placed top-10 four times.
🔼 He’s Baaack. There’s a new assistant baseball coach in town! Well, he’s new to the role, but he’s not new to LSU. Josh Simpson is returning to LSU as an assistant coach!
He was the director of baseball operations in 2023 when the Tigers won the National Championship. He spent the 2024 season as an assistant at Georgia, where he helped the team to an NCAA Tournament No. 7 National Seed and an NCAA Athens Regional title.
