Bayou Brew 5/24: Golden boys

Today, we're kicking off the SEC Tournament with more awards coming in.

Good morning. We have LSU baseball in the SEC Tournament bright and early this morning, so get your coffee and breakfast ready!

What's steeping in today's Brew?

⚾️ Golden Spikes Semifinalists
🏆 Former Tiger wins a Sports Emmy
🐯 And much, much more!

Tigers Win. It’s a new day and we have another pair of LSU gymnasts on Tigers Win to round out the gymnastics podcasts. Kiya Johnson and Alyona Shchennikova join the studio to reflect on the season and what’s to come.

🔼 Golden Boys. Three Tigers were named to the Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist List! LSU and Wake Forest are the only teams to have three players on the list. The big three are Dylan Crews, Paul Skenes, and Tommy White. Fans can vote on GoldenSpikesAward.com and the finalists will be announced on June 7. The award winner will be announced June 25 going into game two of the College World Series finals.

🔼 Breakfast With The SEC. Today, we’re getting that third game against South Carolina. Earlier in the season, the Gamecocks and the Tigers split a series thanks to some poor weather, but today we get it back in the SEC Tournament. South Carolina beat Georgia yesterday 9-0 to advance to this game while the 3-seeded Tigers got to rest. First pitch in Hoover is at 9:30 this morning and will be live on the SEC Network.

🔼 Take A Bow. Women’s golf star Ingrid Lindblad finished tied in 5th-place individually at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships. She tied the school scoring mark for 72 holes with her finish. The Tigers tied for 14th overall and set a school mark for aggregate 72-hole total of 1,167. The Tigers had four wins on the season and Coach Runion is up for National Coach of the Year.

🔼 And The Emmy Goes To. Congratulations to former LSU football player Ryan Clark for winning a Sports Emmy for outstanding personality/studio analyst! Ryan is an analyst for ESPN and mainly covers the NFL. He was on with Scott Van Pelt when they broke down the Damar Hamlin situation with what felt like the whole world watching. He beat out Shaq, Charles Barkley, Jay Bilas, Kenny Smith, Tom Verducci, and Nate Burleson to win the award. We are proud he is a Tiger!

You’re So Golden. There has only been one LSU Tiger to win the Golden Spikes Award.
