🔼 He Is Iron Man. The Iron Tiger Award was earned by linebacker Omar Speights at the end of summer training. Omar is bench pressing around 430 pounds and has put in the work in the weight room all summer. This will be his first season at LSU, he transferred from Oregon State in the spring. He was a four-year starter and earned First Team All-Pac 12 last season and Freshman All-America in 2019. Last summer, Mekhi Wingo won the Iron Tiger Award before turning into one of the Tigers’ best players.

🔼 Stealing The Spotlight. LSU women’s golfer Aine Donegan caught the attention of many when she shot 3-under in the opening round of the U.S. Women’s Open with replacement clubs. USGA writer David Shefter wrote a detailed piece on Aine stepping into the spotlight. Next week, she’ll be teeing off at the 123rd U.S. Women’s Amateur in Los Angeles.

🔼 All Eyes On You. It’s still not football season, but it is preseason watch list season. The Outland Trophy preseason watch list came out yesterday and it includes three Tigers. Will Campbell, Emery Jones Jr., and Mekhi Wingo are all on the watch list for the best college football interior lineman award.

🔼 Wingin’ It. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watch list also came out yesterday and features two Tigers. Defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo is on it, making yet another list, and linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. made an appearance as well. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy goes to the best defensive player in college football.

LSU is one of six schools with at least three players on the Outland Trophy preseason watch list.
