Bayou Brew 5/15: Movin' On Up
Today, men's golf sits in sixth, track & field stays No. 1, and more.
Good morning! As the women’s golf season nears the end, the team sat down to honor their seniors. Let’s start off with the love for Carla Tejedo:
A talented golfer and the one person who can make the room smile with her energy. It's all love for our girl Carla.

What else did we pour into today’s Brew?
⛳️ Men’s golf moves up four spots
🎽 Women’s track & field stays at No. 1
🐯 And much, much more!
The Powerhouse. Through early-season adversity, Coach Johnson has emphasized the importance of taking baseball game-by-game, and pitch-by-pitch. Senior right-handed pitcher Will Hellmers knows this to be true. His pregame hype speeches are a hallmark of the program, and there’s no one better suited to give them than Wild Bill.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Movin’ On Up. The men’s golf team moved up four spots in round two of the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional! They now sit in sixth-place, one stroke behind fifth. Connor Gaunt still leads the team, tied for second individually at 3-under. Freshman Jay Mendell is tied for 16th after shooting 3-under yesterday. The regional will conclude today with the final round being played.
🔼 Flyin’ High. Former LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese will start her rookie WNBA season with the Chicago Sky today. She’ll be playing the Dallas Wings in the same city she won the national championship in. Tip-off is at 7 pm. She averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds in two preseason games with the Sky.
🔼 Meet The Competition. Yesterday, we told you the men’s basketball SEC opponents. Today, we have the women’s basketball SEC opponents! The Tigers will play a home-and-home with Tennessee. They’ll also host Oklahoma in their first SEC season. The Tigers will additionally host Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Texas A&M. They’ll hit the road to Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, and Texas.
🔼 Staying At The Top. The women’s track & field team remains No. 1 in the latest USTFCCCA Rankings! They won the SEC Outdoor Championship last week to keep their top ranking secure. The men’s team dropped two spots to No. 5. The Tigers have 21 marks inside the top 10 of the national rankings, including three No. 1 spots.
