Bayou Brew 5/16: No place like home

Today, the softball team is hosting a regional!

Good morning. Members of the football team are studying abroad in Africa and you can keep up with the trip here! There are some really cool things these guys are doing and you won’t want to miss out.

What's steeping in today's Brew?

🥎 Regionals run through Baton Rouge
⛳️ Tee time in Norman
🐯 And much, much more!

Play By Play. We always see the faces of the athletic departments, but we rarely get to see the people more behind the scenes. Jake Flint is LSU football’s Director of Athletic Development and joined the Play by Play team to talk about the team’s development throughout the spring. Check it out on LSU Gold!

🔼 Hostess With The Mostest. The Tigers are hosting at Tiger Park! The NCAA selected LSU as one of 16 host sites for the NCAA Softball Tournament. The Tigers earned the No. 10 seed and will be hosting Louisiana-Lafayette, Omaha, and Prairie View A&M. The Ragin’ Cajuns won the Sun Belt Championship, Omaha won the Summit League, and Prairie View A&M is the SWAC Champion. This is the seventh time in eight years that LSU has hosted a regional.

🔼 Top-10 Again. Both men and women track & field teams were ranked in the top-10 by USTFCCCA for the seventh week in a row. The women came in at No. 7 and the men No. 8. The rankings come after the men took second-place at the SEC Outdoor Championships. LSU has 11 marks that rank inside the top-10 of this week’s national rankings, including three No. 1 rankings.

🔼 Tee Time. The Tigers men’s golf team is sitting in 8th place at the Norman Regional with 4-over par. Drew Doyle led the team shooting 1-under par in yesterday’s round. The Tigers continue in round two today and look to get that 5th place or higher spot.

🔼 Party In The USA. Team USA selected Angel Reese to play in the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in July. Eight players were selected and four more will be taken after training camp. One of those four could be the newest Tiger, Annesah Morrow. Angel and Annesah were two of only four players with 800 points and 400 rebounds in a season over the last 20 DI seasons.

Road To OKC. The LSU softball team is looking for another trip to the Women’s College World Series.

Do you know how many times the Tigers have made an appearance at the WCWS?
