🔼 Numbers Game. The significant numbers 7 and 18 were awarded to two players over the weekend. Mekhi Wingo received No. 18 as a player who represents the traits and spirit of the program. He’s been a leader since transferring to LSU. Will Campbell was awarded No. 7, Coach Kelly wanted to give the number to a player from Louisiana and highlight a group that doesn’t get much focus. Since Will is an offensive lineman, his No. 66 jersey will be paired with a No. 7 patch.

🔼  Queens Of The 225. LSU soccer took down Southern 5-0 last night at home, luckily the Jaguars have less than a 30-minute trip home. Rammie Noel started things off by scoring first in the 19th minute. The Tigers went on a tear and scored three goals in five minutes after the first half. Britney Bertram, Sage Glover, then Jordan Johnson turned on the heat to extend the lead to 4-0. Mollie Baker wanted to add her third goal of the season so she brought the Tigers to 5-0 to end things. The Tigers now have three straight wins.

🔼 Three Of A Kind. Former Tiger Sha’Carri Richardson took home three medals at her first World Athletics Championships. She anchored Team USA’s Women’s 4×100 Relay to gold in a WC record of 41.03. Before that, she won bronze in the 200m and gold in the 100m. She landed on the Nike billboard outside Madison Square Gardens.

🔼 Going Back-To-Back. There’s no question that Mondo Duplantis is the best pole vaulter in the world. He confirmed that when he won his second World Championship in-a-row on Saturday with 6.10m. He’s cleared 6m in 50 different competitions. Former Tiger JuVaughn Harrison won silver in the high jump, giving the 2019 trio 5 medals on the week. Former Tiger Vernon Norwood earned his fifth World Championships medal by leading Team USA in the 4×400.

🔼 Banana Split. The volleyball season got started over the weekend when LSU split the Tiger Classic with UCLA. The weekend started off with a 3-2 Tiger win. Freshman Jurnee Robinson led the way with 23 kills, 6 digs, 3 blocks, and one ace. Anita Anwusi had a match-high .667 hitting percentage and 6 blocks. The Tigers dropped a hard fought 5-set battle on Saturday, 2-3. LSU won nearly every statistical category, but the Bruins were more efficient. Jurnee had another 23-kill performance and secured a double-double.
