Bayou Brew 6/8: On Track

Today, we're chasing a title at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Good morning. And congratulations to men’s tennis player Nick Watson on winning the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship award for the Southern Region!

What all are we mixing into today's Brew?

🎽 Right on track
⛳️ Best in the world
🐯 And much, much more!

The Climb. Good news! The Climb is still free on LSU Gold. This episode highlights Kiya Johnson and how she embraced adversity. The All-American suffered an injury in the squads second meet, but that did not hinder her leadership skills through the rest of the season. Watch her story here.

🔼 Right On Track. The Tigers already claimed one NCAA Championship last night when Tzuriel Pedigo got his second javelin title and recorded a new LSU record! The 4×100 squad reached the Friday finals after clocking 38.06. Godson Oghenebrume made his way to No. 2 in LSU history with his 9.93 100m time and moves on.

🔼 Up Next. The women’s track and field team will take on the season finale today when 12 student-athletes compete in 8 events. The ladies punched 11 tickets at the preliminaries and will now be chasing that national title. The meet kicks off at 3:30pm in Austin, Texas and you can watch the action on ESPN2 at 7:30pm.

🔼 Golden Cleats Combine. The Kelly’s and the LSU football team hosted the Golden Cleats Combine this week where they raised over $100,000 for the Kelly Cares Foundation. The foundation strengthens communities and invests resources to improve health and education. Check out the gallery from the event here!

🔼  On Top Of The World. Our very own Ingrid Lindblad is ranked No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings! The rankings look at play over the last two years and in that time, Ingrid has had eight tournament wins and 24 top 10 finishes. Tomorrow, she tees off as a special invitee in the Ladies European Tour stop in Sweden.

Bayou Traditions raises funds to provide Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) opportunities to LSU student-athletes—making NIL deals more accessible and sustainable and allowing student-athletes to gain finance and business experience without compromising their focus on studies and sports.

NIL is a competitive space and now influences where an athlete attends college. We need the Tiger community to join us and keep LSU at the forefront of NIL!

On Track. The Tigers are chasing track and field championships right now.

Do you know when the last time the women’s team won a national title?
