🔼 Opening Doors. LSU is being represented well at the Women’s U.S. Open this week by current Tiger Aine Donegan and former Tiger Madelene Sagstrom. The event starts today, with Donegan teeing off at 9:33am CT and Sagstrom teeing at 4:02pm CT. You can tune in on Peacock, USA Network, and NBC throughout the day.

⛳️ This is Donegan’s major debut thanks to qualifying in San Mateo, California in June. She earned second-team All-SEC honors this past season and had three top-10 finishes. She averaged 72.33 for 27 rounds over the season.

⛳️ This is Sagstrom’s 7th Women’s U.S. Open and she bears two top-20 finishes. She was at LSU from 2012-2015 and earned a handful of honors, including 2015 SEC Player of the Year, 2015 ANNIKA Award Finalist, 2015 All-Louisiana Player of the Year, 2012 All-Louisiana Freshman of the Year, and an All-American honor. She was also the first LSU women’s player to average under 72 for a single season.

🔼 Movin’ On Up. A former LSU softball player has gotten a big-time promotion from volunteer to Beth Torina’s full-time assistant coach. Sandra (Simmons) Moton received the call-up after 5 years of acting as the volunteer assistant. Before returning to LSU in 2018, she served as Kentucky’s graduate assistant and director of operations. She played at LSU from 2013-2016 where she was named NFCA All-Region and MVP of the 2015 Baton Rouge Super Regional.

🔼 Professional-ism. While we’re talking softball, let’s see what Sahvanna Jaquish has been up to in the pro’s. The catcher has been showing out for the WPF’s Texas Smoke this season. She was also recently selected to the U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the WBSC World Cup that takes place next week, along with former Tiger Aliyah Andrews.

🔼 Counting Down. We’re counting down the days until LSU kicks off against Florida State. We’re 59 days away, which is the number of passes Odell Beckham Jr. caught his final year at LSU. That year was 2013, when he caught eight touchdowns and recorded the second-most kick return yardage in LSU history with 845 yards. He earned First-Team All-American honors as a kick returner and all-purpose player. OBJ was drafted 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.

Gold Glove U. LSU is the only school to have Gold Glove winners in both softball and baseball this season, with two players winning the award.

Do you know who those two players are?
