🔼 All Gas, No Brakes. The Tigers hit the gas and never slowed down in Saturday night’s 56-14 win over Georgia State. Jayden Daniels finished 25-30 for 413 yards, six passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, and 96 rushing yards. This was his seventh game with over 400 total yards this season, an LSU record. The Tigers scored on all eight possessions that Jayden led the offense. Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Kyren Lacy all had over 100 receiving yards. The Tigers landed at No. 14 in the Coaches and AP Polls.
🔼 Finished Strong. The men’s basketball team spent the weekend at the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic and came out with two wins. They beat North Texas, 66-62, on Friday and Wake Forest, 86-80, on Sunday. Will Baker led the team in points both games with 16 against North Texas and 23 against Wake Forest. He also added eight rebounds in yesterday’s contest. The Tigers return to Baton Rouge for a Friday night game against North Florida.
🔼 Back Home Ballers. The women’s basketball team is back in the PMAC tonight at 7pm as they host Texas Southern on SEC Network+. They got a 73-50 win at Southeastern on Friday night. Flau’Jae Johnson has been fantastic off the bench the past two games and recorded her first double-double on Friday. Tonight will be the last game before they head to the Cayman Islands. No, not for vacation — for the Cayman Island Classic!
🔼 Purple Reign. If you missed out on the Purple-Gold World Series, you missed some fun. But don’t worry, we have a recap for you! Purple took the series from Gold with two wins, 2-1 on Friday and 3-2 on Sunday.
⚾️ Friday: Pitchers Sam Dutton, Nic Bronzini, and Fidel Ulloa allowed one run on three hits. Ryan Kucherak hit a two-run double to score Jake Brown and Zeb Ruddell for the win.
⚾️ Sunday: Christian Little got the start for Purple, allowing no runs and seven strikeouts in three innings. Purple got the 2-0 lead thanks to a Jake Brown RBI single and Michael Braswell III’s sac fly. Gold tied things up with a bases loaded Steven Milam walk and Gavin Guidry getting hit by a pitch. Mic Paul hit a single to score the final run for Purple.
