Bayou Brew 6/21: Stayin' Alive

Today, we have more baseball in Omaha!

Good morning. There aren’t many things more romantic than Dylan Crews home runs in the College World Series, but the home run with Céline Dion playing takes the cake.

What all are we mixing into today's Brew?

⚾️ Tigers win!
🏈 Freak of the Week
🐯 And much, much more!

Uncut. Tiger faithful showed up to send the baseball team off to Omaha before the Men’s College World Series. You can see that moment and all of the sights and sounds from traveling to Omaha and media day on the newest episode of Uncut!

🔼 Stayin’ Alive. The Tigers got back on track last night with a 5-0 win over Tennessee. Nate Ackenhausen had the performance of a lifetime, throwing a season-high six innings and a season-high seven strikeouts. Riley Cooper came in to slam the door in the seventh to shut out the Vols and earn another CWS save.

Cade Beloso brought in the first run with his RBI single in the first inning. Dylan Crews put the nail in the coffin in the top of the ninth with a two-run Crews missile.

🔜 Up Next. The Tigers are set to rematch Wake Forest tonight at 6:00pm CT. Wake Forest beat LSU on Monday night, 3-2, so the Tigers are looking for revenge.

🔼 Welcome To The Fam. Coach Jay Clark and the LSU gymnastics program are welcoming a new addition, Jillian Hoffman. She’s a grad transfer from the University of Utah where she competed on vault and floor, and led the Utes to the final four this past season. She also received Utah Athletics’ Most Inspirational Award and the Marsden Leadership Award.

🔼 Aced It. Former LSU men’s golf star Sam Burns spent his weekend at the U.S. Open. He shot his first hole-in-one of his PGA Tour career on hole 15! He finished the U.S. Open 3-over par and tied for 32nd.

🔼 Freak Of The Week. Football will be here before you know it and the Bayou Bengals have been working hard. This week’s Freak of the Week is Laterrance Welch. The sophomore cornerback played in 13 games last season and recorded 4 solo tackles. He had an impressive spring game, making big plays downfield. Look out for LT in the fall.

New Faces. Last week, we told you about the 2024 SEC football schedule release.

Do you remember which opponent is coming to Tiger Stadium for the first time ever?
