Bayou Brew 2/6: Still Climbing

Today, the Tigers are moving up in the rankings.

Good morning! Who knew Tigers and eagles got along so well? Coach Brian Kelly released a bald eagle back into the wild from LSU Vet Med over the weekend. Check out the scenes!

🎾 Three wins on the tennis court
🐯 And much, much more!

Black Story Month. Two-time NCAA National Champion and LSU Gymnastics legend Ashleigh Clare-Kearney Thigpen wanted nothing but to give back to the sport and the Baton Rouge community in becoming a volunteer assistant coach - and set trails ablaze in her roles as floor exercise choreographer and eventual custom leotard designer. Today, her influence is threaded in every sparkle and mystique panel of the Tigers' increasingly elegant performance wear - and her persistence and belief in herself continues to inspire future generations of coaches and student athletes.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 On The Right Track. The USTFCCCA ranked the LSU women at No. 10 and the men at No. 17 in the third edition of the indoor national rankings! The women’s team moved up two spots after their trip to New Mexico. Alia Armstrong and Leah Phillips finished first and second in the 60m hurdle once again over the weekend. The Tigers have six marks in the top-10 of the national rankings this week.

🔼 Double Rice, Please. The men’s and women’s tennis teams picked up wins over Rice this weekend. The women got the 4-1 win, taking the doubles point and three singles points. The men’s team beat Rice 6-1 in the first match of their Sunday double-header. Afterwards, they took down Nicholls with another 6-1 score.

🔼  Still Climbing. The gymnastics team jumped from No. 5 to No. 3 in this week’s national poll! The Tigers already have five ranked wins over top-20 opponents this season. They rank in the top-15 on all four events, including top-five ranks in vault, bars, and floor. Haleigh Bryant remains the best gymnast in the country, sitting No. 1 in the all-around.
