Bayou Brew 5/4: Tigers in the tourney

Play By Play. LSU softball just keeps getting better and this week we were lucky enough to catch the master of it all, Coach Beth Torina! Post season play is coming up in just one week when the team heads to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the SEC Tournament. Tune in to hear all the ins and outs of Tiger softball!

🔼 All-American Girls. The women’s tennis season is far from over for Anastasiya Komar and Kylie Collins. The duo were both selected to play individually in singles and together in doubles in the 2023 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships. They locked in Doubles All-American honors when they were named a top 8 seed after going 10-0 this season. Anastasiya is one of just three Tigers to earn singles and doubles All-American honors in the same season. The ladies will compete in the singles and doubles competitions May 22-27.

Team Effort. The women’s tennis team will head to Iowa for the Ames Regional. They play Wisconsin first at 11:00am on Friday. This is their 24th NCAA Tournament appearance and the first time in program history that a first-year head coach led them there.

🔼 Sporty & Smart. Ten Tiger teams scored a 990 or higher in the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate. The APR looks at the team’s academic success by tracking the academic progress of each student on scholarship. Men’s cross country, women’s golf, gymnastics, softball, beach volleyball, and women’s tennis all scored perfect 1000’s in the rating. Men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s cross country, and volleyball scored 990 or higher.

🔼 Stormin’ Norman. The men’s golf team just locked in their ticket to the Norman Regional! The boys are a 7 seed in the 14 team regional that includes SEC foes Alabama and Ole Miss. This is their 15th straight regional appearance under Coach Chuck Winstead. The fun kicks off May 15th and goes through May 17th.

🔼 Three-Peat. The men’s tennis team is NCAA Tournament bound for the third straight year as they head to Michigan for the Ann Arbor Regional. Their first draw? The California Golden Bears. The teams will play on Saturday at 9:00am CT. Ronnie Hohmann was also selected to serve as an alternate in the Men’s Tennis Singles Championship, May 22-27.

Tourney Time. The men’s tennis team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.
