Bayou Brew 7/14: Tigers On Tour
Today, the Tigers are going international and Dylan Crews is up for another award.
Good morning. We are saddened by the passing of former LSU women’s basketball player—Danielle Ballard. She was a standout player from 2012-2015 and earned All-SEC honors, SEC All-Freshman honors, and two SEC All-Defensive Team honors. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
What else is in today's Brew?
⚾️ Keep the awards comin’
🏀 Going international
🐯 And much, much more!
The Climb. Let’s have some fun on this Friday, shall we? We have some big gymnastics news down below, but first — let’s look back at The Climb series on LSU GOLD. Get a good laugh by catching this exclusive look of the bloopers behind the scenes of the 2023 gymnastics season.

🔼 Crewsin’ To More Nominations. The awards continue to roll in for Dylan Crews, he has now been named a semifinalist for the AAU James E. Sullivan Award! This award is given to the best collegiate or Olympic athlete in the United States. You can vote once a day through Wednesday, July 19 at 10:59pm CT, six finalists will be chosen after the first round of voting.
🔼 Tropical Tour. The men’s basketball team announced that they will go on a foreign tour to the Bahamas in August! Sounds like a pretty good vacation, doesn’t it? LSU will play the Bahamian National Team, the Puerto Rican National Team, and a professional Argentinian team August 6-12. The Tigers will then return to the Bahamas in November for the Battle of Atlantis.
🔼 Academic Excellence. Volleyball, beach volleyball, it doesn’t matter — both teams earned AVCA Team Academic Awards! The beach volleyball team has won the award every year since 2016, pretty impressive, right? The volleyball team won the USMC/AVCA award for the fourth straight year and the ninth time since the awards existence.
🔼 City Of Champions. LSU gymnastics just signed U.S. Champion Konnor McClain. She’s been with the U.S. National Team since 2019 and represented the red, white, and blue at the 2021 World Championships. The highly decorated gymnast became a national champion at the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in August. We are thrilled to have her join The Climb!
The men’s basketball team went overseas four years ago for some preseason fun.
Today’s question…
