Bayou Brew 5/17: Tigers takeover

Today, the Tigers are back in the win column

Good morning. And congratulations to Aalyah Del Rosario for making the USA Women’s U19 National Team! The Tigers are taking over Team USA.

What's steeping in today's Brew?

🎽 Conference takeover
🐯 And much, much more!

Play By Play. Women’s golf coach Garrett Runion returns to Play by Play this week to discuss their hunt for a national title. The team is preparing for the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona this weekend. Check out the episode before the weekend!

🔼 Back-To-Back Hacks. The Tigers downed McNeese 7-4 in the last midweek matchup of the season last night. Cade Beloso and Hayden Travinski launched back-to-back home runs to put LSU in the lead in the sixth inning and it was all Tigers from there. LSU picked up their 40th win of the season for the second straight year.

Best Of The Best. Collegiate Baseball’s National Player of the Week awards belong to Paul Skenes and Tommy White. The two Tigers received the honors after Paul threw 13 strikeouts and allowed just one run on Friday night and Tommy hit .611 in four games with four doubles, two homers, and nine RBIs last week.

🔼 Climbing The Ladder. The Tigers men’s golf team continues to climb after two days of the Norman Regional. They currently sit in 7th-place, one spot higher than day one. The Tigers stepped it up and shot 8-under par yesterday to put themselves 4 strokes behind Duke. Drew Doyle and Cohen Trolio are tied in 7th individually, both with a score of 140. The third and final round takes place today as the Tigers are looking for a 5th or better spot.

🔼 Watch Out. Women’s golfer Ingrid Lindblad was named to the final watch list for the ANNINA Award. The award is given to the top female DI golfer voted on by players, coaches, and media. This is the third time Ingrid has been named a finalist in her career. The award will be presented on May 23.

🔼 On Cloud 9. The track & field teams are now home to 9 First Team All-SEC members. The men’s 4×100 team of Brandon Hicklin, Dorian Camel, Da’Marcus Fleming, and Godson Oghenebrume each made the list. Alia Armstrong, Favour Ofili, Brianna Lyston, Thelma Davies, and Michaela Rose all made First Team honors on the women’s side. The list doesn’t stop there, Lorena Rangel-Batres, John Meyer, and Tzuriel Pedigo made Second Team All-SEC. Ok, now we’re finished.

Bayou Traditions raises funds to provide Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) opportunities to LSU student-athletes—making NIL deals more accessible and sustainable and allowing student-athletes to gain finance and business experience without compromising their focus on studies and sports.

NIL is a competitive space and now influences where an athlete attends college. We need the Tiger community to join us and keep LSU at the forefront of NIL!

Third Times A Charm. Like we mentioned, this is Ingrid Lindblad’s third time making the ANNINA Award watch list.

Do you know what other years she was named a finalist?
