🔼 Rain, Rain, Go Away. LSU baseball's trip to South Carolina was definitely not all sunshine and rainbows. The Tigers and the Gamecocks were unable to finish the three game series, thanks to some thunderstorms. The Tigers left Columbia 1-1 with the sixth-ranked Gamecocks after dropping Thursday's game, but stealing Friday's.
The Tigers produced a comeback win on Friday to save LSU from dropping the series. Going into the eighth inning, the Tigers trailed 7-3. Gavin Dugas stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam to tie the ball game. Cade Beloso then singled to score Dylan Crews and the Tigers took the 8-7 lead in the ninth. Gavin Guidry came in clutch to finish the last 1.2 innings, allowing no runs and one hit.
The Tigers are now 26-5 and 7-4 in the SEC after giving South Carolina their first home loss of the season. LSU will travel to Tulane tomorrow for a 6:00pm game against the Green Wave.
🔼 Tigers Topple Tigers. That's right, our Tigers took the series win over the Missouri Tigers in softball this weekend.
On Friday, Raelin Chaffin led LSU with a complete game in the circle, allowing just one run off four hits and striking out two. Georgia Clark hit her 38th career homer to put her in fourth on the LSU career home run list. The Tigers beat Missouri 3-1.
Saturday was a home run derby in Tiger Park with Ali Newland, Georgia Clark, and Missouri's Alex Honnold all hitting one each. LSU had a six run fourth inning to cause a 9-1 run-rule after five innings. Ali Kilponen picked up the complete game win after allowing one run from four hits.
The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow at 6:00pm with No. 1 Oklahoma coming to town.
🔼 Lucky Number 7. In just one day at Bernie Moore Track Stadium, the Tigers picked up 7 event victories and 13 new personal bests. Michaela Rose PR'd with an outdoor 800m time of 2:00.34 to win first ahead of two teammates and recording the best time in the nation.
Morgan Smalls is second in the nation in the high jump after recording a new PR of 6' 1.25". The men's 4x100m relay crew of Brandon Hicklin, Dorian Camel, Da'Marcus Fleming, and Godson Oghenebrume won the event to continue their undefeated record against collegiate teams.
🔼 Senior Sunday. The women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Ole Miss on their Senior Day yesterday. The seniors celebrated were Safiya Carrington, Maggie Cubitt, Nina Geissler, and Mia Rabinowitz. Anastasiya Komar won in doubles and earned her 30th singles win of the season. Nina Geissler clinched the match victory and picked up her 13th win of the season. The tigers play the final weekend of the regular season at Vanderbilt at noon on Friday.
Master Class. The Masters wrapped up yesterday and there was a former Tiger in competition as well.
Do you know which former LSU golfer made the cut and was playing in The Masters?
