With a mix of guts, will, heart and talent and spurred by a biased crowd that was the largest to watch a sporting event in the Louisiana Superdome, LSU (13-1) won its first football National Championship in 45 years by pounding Heisman Trophy winner Jason White and topping his Oklahoma Sooners, 21-14, on January 4, 2004.
