Bayou Brew 6/19: Wake Up, It's Game Day
Today, we're facing game two of the CWS.
Good morning. We have more postseason baseball on the slate tonight, but first, let's talk about the old ball coach!
Former LSU coach Skip Bertman was honored during the Men’s College World Series when he received the CWS All-Star award. He even hit “The Tommy.”

The Powerhouse. The newest episode of The Powerhouse is out now. Dive into the importance of the pitching staff and the magic of Alex Box Stadium. We look at the SEC Tournament, the upkeep of “The Box,” and postseason fun.
🔼 Omaha Saturday Night. The Tigers won their first game of the Men’s College World Series on Saturday night against Tennessee, 6-3.
⚾️ Throwing Heat. Paul Skenes took no time to adjust on the big stage, he started the game with seven pitches 100mph or faster. His fast ball averaged 99.7mph. He threw 12 strikeouts in 7.2 innings, giving him 200 on the year which just just 2 away from Ben McDonald’s record.
⚾️ Shut ‘Em Down. Earning his first save of the season, Riley Cooper came in in the eighth to shut the Vols down. He threw 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
💣 Bombs Away. Gavin Dugas got the scoring started in the second inning with his 16th homer of the season. Brayden Jobert also had a night full of action with three hits, two RBIs, one triple, and one home run.
🔼 Up Next. The Tigers will play No. 1 ranked Wake Forest tonight at 6:00pm. The Demon Deacons defeated Stanford 3-2 to advance. Designated hitter Danny Corona has recorded 19 RBIs in their last five games and third baseman Brock Wilken has 31 home runs, tied for most in the country. The matchup will be televised on ESPN.
🔼 Making History. LSU gymnast Aleah Finnegan became the first Filipino woman to earn multiple medals at the Asian Championships! She earned third on vault and beam. She was also recognized for the highest execution score on an apparatus at the championship.
Common Ground. LSU has faced one team six times in the College World Series.
