Today, the show goes on.
Good morning. The show goes on! LSU is in the College World Series Finals thanks to Tommy White’s walk-off home run heard ‘round the world. Keep scrolling for all the highlights from last night.
What all are we mixing into today's Brew?
⚾️ Walk it off
🥎 Taylor Pleasants earns spot on USWNT squad
🐯 And much, much more!
The show goes on. Go behind the scenes and watch the all-access story of LSU baseball’s season from the very beginning to punching their ticket to the College World Series Finals—only on LSU GOLD today!
🔼 We Didn’t Hear No Bell. It took 11 innings, but it wasn’t over until Tommy White said it was over—launching a two-run homer to walk off the No. 1 overall seed Wake Forest and break the stalemate with a 2-0 victory last night.
Paul Skenes earned the start on the mound and was brilliant through the first eight innings, allowing zero runs on two hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. He extended his season strikeouts total to 209, establishing the SEC single-season mark for strikeouts.
Thatcher Hurd earned the win in relief, working the final three innings and blanking Wake Forest on one hit with one walk and one strikeout.
Tommy White stole the show in extra innings, turning the first pitch he saw out of reliever Camden Minacci into an absolute moon shot of a game-winner.
🔼 Bryce As Nice. There’s a new (assistant) sheriff in town! Bryce Neal will join LSU softball as an Assistant Coach after spending the last two seasons at Louisville in the same capacity. In that time span, the Cardinals earned a 63-45 record and produced two NFCA All-Americans, five NFCA Southeast All-Region selections, and nine All-ACC honorees.
Most impressively, Louisville finished last year with a 16-7 mark in the ACC, which tied for the most league wins in program history since joining the conference in 2015. And at the plate, his Cardinals put the Slugger in Louisville Sluggers—hitting a program record 64 home runs last season (good for 13th in the NCAA in home runs per game) and led the ACC with a .319 batting average.
🔼 Taylor Made. Speaking of LSU softball, Taylor Pleasants will join the U.S. Women’s National Team 16-player roster to compete in the 2023 Japan All-Star Series held the first week of August.
Team USA will compete against world-ranked No. 2 Japan in a three-game series held across three cities in Japan. The 2023 Japan All-Star roster is represented by 12 NCAA Division I universities and five athletic conferences and it’s the second WNT roster scheduled to compete during the 2023 season in addition to the World Baseball Softball Confederation World Cup roster that features LSU alumnae Aliyah Andrews and Sahvanna Jaquish in Dublin, Ireland.
Top of the charts. Taylor Pleasants’ well-rounded play this season earned her a spot on the U.S. Women’s National Team 16-player roster to compete in the 2023 Japan All-Star Series in August. Looking at the season as a whole, the shortstop was one of the best on the team in nearly every category…
Let’s see how well you pay attention to LSU softball box scores.

Answer: All of the above!
Sorry for the trick question, but it was taking a while to find a statistical category where Taylor Pleasants wasn’t at or near the top.
Have a great Friday and an even greater weekend, y'all.
