Good morning. The power might have gone out on campus yesterday, but former Tigers JuVaughn Harrison and Vernon Norwood brought the electricity to the World Athletics Championship yesterday. Vernon clocked a new PR in the 400m to head to his first individual-world final. JuVaughn took home silver in the men’s high jump with 2.36m.

🔼 Tell A Friend To Tell A Friend. She’s back! Former Bowerman Award Winner and LSU Tiger Sha’Carri Richardson is on top of the world! She became the 100m World Champion in record breaking fashion. She set a World Athletics Championship record, running a 10.65. This was her first World Championship appearance and title. She tied for the fifth fastest time in world history. At 23 years old, she’s the 2nd-youngest sprinter to ever go sub-10.70 in the 100m.

 🔼  Island Time. The National Champion women’s basketball team will play in the Cayman Island Classic over Thanksgiving Break. They’re set to face Niagara Nov. 24 and Virginia Nov. 25 in John Gray Gymnasium, which happens to be minutes away from the world famous seven mile beach. What we’re saying is, if you don’t have Thanksgiving travel plans, here’s an idea! The Tigers have a haul of talented newcomers including ESPN’s top rated freshman class and the top two players from the transfer portal.

🔼 Tigers Eleven. LSU football has 11 players on the Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team, the second-most in the league.

🏆 First Team: Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, Will Campbell, Mekhi Wingo, Maason Smith, and Harold Perkins.

🏆 Second Team: Mason Taylor, Emery Jones, and Nathan Dibert.

🏆 Third Team: Greg Brooks and Slade Roy.

🔼 Eight Is Great. The No. 8 jersey is given to the upperclassman who exemplifies the spirit of LSU baseball through leadership and dedication to the program. Gavin Dugas wore the number last, in 2022 and 2023. For the 2024 season, Hayden Travinski will wear the No. 8. The catcher has played in 112 career games from 2020-23, batting .286 with 9 doubles, 21 homers, 57 RBI, and 54 runs. He was a key player down the stretch of the National Championship season after earning the starting catcher position in April.
